    Close to 800 Parisians formed around the Medievil prison called the Bastille, they demanded the gunpowder and weapons they believed were inside there.

    The failed escape of Louis XVI has brought problems abroad. The king of Prussia and the emperor of Austria ( Marie Antoinettes brother) issued the Declaration of Pilnitz. Which stated that the European powers would intervene if Louis XVI was threatened . French revolutionaries began to prepare for war.

    The Tuileries (French Royal Palace) was invaded on August 10th 1792 by a group of Parisians resulting initially in the kings guards being murdered and the royal family fleeing to Legislative Assemblyu, and eventually in the abolishing of Monarchy.

    The constitution set up a five man directory, including future emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and a two house legislature. The power was held there from 1799 until 1795. Bonaparte was able to become emperor due to the chaos that continued.
