In Chapter 3 I felt a sense of akwardness. It seemed to me that all that happened in this chapter was odd. For example, out of all the places the characters end up in a brothel. I don't know if it was all by chance, but it was all very odd. It was very odd to give a man whiskey when he is dying. I believe that they gave him whiskey because they wanted to heal him on an outside level but they could not heal the real problem that he was dying.
