Year 13- 2009

  • Retreat

Retreat was lots of fun and helped us as a year level to bond as a group and this would in turn help to strengthen the school.
While on retreat we set goals for each of the commitees formed at school. We played team games and had a little mini concert between us

  • School Swimming Sports

In 2009 our house McAuley won the house swimming for another year in a row. With our best in each catogory breaking at least one record. Some extra events that we do throughout the day is the big splash and diving. This is lots of fun as everyone just jumps off the diving well. One of the international boys from Japan dressed up in his pink panther suit.
  • School Athletics

School athletics is a great time to encourage the younger students to give everything a go, even if they are not that good at it. This is a house event that is held every year and everyone dresses colours that are associated to their house. My house was called McAuley and we had to wear yellow
  • Leader on Year 10 Camp

    Leader on Year 10 Camp
Being a leader on year 10 camp was alot of fun, however it was also very challenging.
The leaders had to orgainise food and group gear for their group, sort it amoungst the group, look after the group and help them to bond as a group. We had a lot of fun times while on camp and it was great to see the year 10s finally bond together after about the third day
  • Sister City Exchange- Japan

    Sister City Exchange- Japan
With the Sister City Exchange I was one of three students chosen to represent the Timaru District over in our Sister City, Eniwa, Japan.
This experience was a once in a life time opportunity. While we were there we had to spend a month with our host family doing what they do on a day to day basis. Also we had to attend school every day.
School in Japan is quite different to a NZ school. As you walk into the school building you have your own shoe locker and you have to change you shoes.
  • Year 12 and 13 Ball

    Year 12 and 13 Ball
This is a big event for all year 12 and 13 students. Last year it was held in the holidays.
The year 13 girls were not worried too much about the ball this year. In year 12 we were really orgainised and got partners straight away and sorted hair, makeup and dresses really quickly. In year 13 we left it to just about the last minute. It was a great night.
  • My Birthday

In 2009 I celebrated my 18th birthday. I decided to have a big party.
  • Graduation

During the Graduation Ceremony all year 13 students recieved a leavers certificate and a baby Kowhai tree. This was to celebrate the end of high school, but also something bigger, our new beginning!
