    Muhammed

    Muhammed is considered the founder of the religion of Islam and is regarded by Muslims as a messenger and prophet of God. He became the greatest law-bearer in a series of Islamic prophets . Muslims believe Muhammed is the restorer of an original monotheistic faith.

    First Crusade

    European Christians went to Jerusalem to reap the Holy Land they believed to initially belonged to them,the Muslims owned the Holy Lands at that time.After fighting around four years,The Christian army broke into Jerusalem and acquired ownership in 1099.This lasted for less than two hundred years.But the First Crusade was a major part of the Christian response to the Islamic conquests, and is considered the first step towards reopening worldwide trade in the West since the Western Roman Empire.
  • Arab-Israeli War (War of Independence)

    The Arab discarded the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine that would make a Jewish state and Arab state neighbors, five Arab states raided the territory of the British Palestine. Israel lost about 6,373 of its people. The exact number of Arab losses is unknown, but is estimated around 15,000 people. Nearly everyone was part of the 758,000 to 900,000 Jews who had flea Arab countries between then and the Six-Day War following common anti-Jewish assaults.
  • Six-Day War

    On June 5, 1967, Israel launched an assail on Egypt. War between Israel and the adjacent states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria erupted June 5th, 1967- June 10th. Israel had achieved have power over the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights by the ending of the war. The consequences of the war still have an effect on the geopolitics of that region.
  • The Embargo

    Many Middle Eastern states placed an oil embargo on the nations that seemed to favor Israel in their policies, which included the United States. The embargo ended in early 1974. It did'nt bring big changes, it was detrimental to the economies of the nations it was placed upon and harmful to their citizens. Oil contributions are now controled by a group called teh OPEC.
  • Hostage Crisis in Iran

    The Iran hostage crisis was a dispute between Iran and the US,53 Americans were detained hostage for 444 days,released January 20 1981.A group of students and militants,who were Islamic,took over the American Embassy to sustain the Iranian Rev.A majority doesn’t believe the hostage crisis will have a long term effect on US-Iran relations.But Journalist Robert Kaplan claims that those who believe affairs between the two countries“will never be restore becauof the hostage crisis...Ignore history."
  • Soviet-Afghan War

    This war was a ten-year conflict triggered by the Soviet Union’s support for the Marxist government; also the Soviets wouldn’t support the Mujahedeen and their actions. They found other countries to sponsor them like the UK, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc…The battle ended on February 15, 1989 under the final Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. After the war the civil war prolonged in Afghanistan after the Soviet withdrawal. The Afghan mujahedeen attacked regional towns and cities.
  • Iran-Iraq War

    Iran and Iraq had a long history of quarrels,such as;border disagreements,religious rupture,personal matters between Saddam and Ayatollah.But also,mainly due to Iraq's aim for replacing Iran as the central Persian Gulf state.These conflicts caused the two countries to clash,and they went into war. After fighting for 8 years,ending in August,1988.US paid $600 billion for each country.Economic development was stalled and oil exports were disrupted,They are still having financial issues to this day
  • The First Intifada

    (1987-1993)This was a Palestinian rebellion against the Israeli rule in Palestinian Territory.It quickly spread throughout Gaza,the West Bank and East Jerusalem.The attack led to boycotts on Israeli products,and refusal to pay taxes,etc…Many car bombings occurred to Israelite civilians.Throughout the six years of the revolt,more than 3,600 Molotov cocktail assaults took place,100 hand grenade attacks and 600 assaults with guns or explosives were reported by the IDF(Israel Defense Forces.)
  • Gulf War

    2 August 1990 Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait.President George Bush set out American forces to Saudi Arabia and advised other countries to send their own troops to Kuwait.A range of nations joined the Coalition of the Gulf War,where countries from the UK to Egypt were participating.The war lasted until 28,February 1991.From this War,Middle East countries gained many things:from coalition victory,to the removal of the Iraqi forces in Kuwait.Kuwait and Iraq made peace and no longer fight with eachothe
  • World Trade Center Attacks (911)

    On September 11th, 2001 a series of suicide attacks began on the World Trade Center,burning them to the ground withing two hours. Al-Qaedeans, led by Osama bin Laden, hijacked four jet airliners and ran themselves into the buildings. 2,973 victims and the 19 hijackers died as a result of the attacks, leaving Americans devistated. The US invaded Iraq in 2003 and has been in war ever since.
  • Abduction of Russian diplomats in Iraq

    This day a tgroup called the Mujahedeen captured 5 members of the Russian Embassy.Their goal was to get Russia to retreat from Chechnya and to free all the Muslim prisoners within 48 hours.To show how serious they were the Mujahedeen made a video showing one hostage being decapitated,the shooting of a second member,and the dead body of a third Russian.Four of the diplomats’ bodies couldn't be found,leaving things unsettled and Iran achieving nothing.Crisis between the countries still persists.
