    French Society Divided/Financial Trouble

    At this time France is divided into 3 estates. The 1st is the clergy or church people. The 2nd estate is the nobility. They are your nights and king and dukes. The 3rd is everyone else. There is lawyers and doctors to peasants.France was always in a financial deficite but it sky rocketed. King Louis XVI prefered a lavish life style. He hired a financial advisor named Jacques Necker. He preposed that the king tax all 3 estates instead of the thrid one. The King Louis called the Estates-General.

    King Louis called the Estates-General. That is where all the 3 estates come to order. He had the esyayes prepare grievences. They are all the compaints that the Estates had. The 3rd estates got locked out of the meeting hall. So they go next door to a Tennis Court.

    -Feudalism is abolished. The first step they took was to issue the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen. This stated that all men are born and remain free and have equal rights. Then the Rights of Women and Female Citizens was written.But this did not give women rights too.
  • Radicals Take Over

    The Radicals were the people who wanted the revolution to happen. They had installed a legislative assebly. But that didnt last more than a year. Then 2 monarchs( Prussia and Austria) had wrote the Declaration of Pilnitz. Which stated that if they felt the monarch was threatened they can intervine.
  • The Monarchy is Abolished
