    The Chesapeake-Leopard Affair was a naval engagement that happened off the coast of Norfolk, VA where soldiers from the HMS Leopard boarded the USS Chesapeake. The soldiers from the HMS Leopard were British and boarded the American ship to search for British deserters. Before the soldiers had boarded the Chesapeake, the two ships were in battle. The Leopard won and the Chesapeake had to surrender.
