    Olmecs

    The Olmec was the first major known civilization. It was the first Mesoamerican civilization that set a foundation for the civilizations to come.The Olmec people lived in tropical low lands of central Mexico. That land is now known as Tabasco and Veracruz. The population of the Olmec started to decline by 350 BC. historians still do not know why. Olmec means rubber people in Nahuatl. They got there name because they would extract latex from, rubber trees, Castilla elastica.

    Mesoamerica

    Mesoamerica
    Mesoamerica was referring to different places with similar cultures.It was different civilizations with that shared geographic similarities. Those civilizations are now modern day Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, Mexico, Salvador, Honduras, and Costa Rica. The Mexica was one of the many Mesoamerican cultural groups that flourished in Mexico before the Europeans arrived in the sixteenth century. Another ethnic group that was found in mexico was Nahua. They spook Nahuatl.

    Bloodletting is a form of violent killing of people during conflict. In Mesoamerica bloodletting was a common cultural trait. It began with the Olmec people. It was a religious sacrifice. It involved self-cutting or piercing of ones body. It was preformed by elites and religious figures. Sacrifice in any kind of form was very deeply symbolic and had political and religious significance. Rulers would use blood sacrifices to the gods to maintain social structure by showing the power they had.

    The Renaissance period is known as the "rebirth". It was following the middle age period. There was advances in so many things. It promoted the rediscovery of classical Philosophy. Also literature and art. It was a cultural movement. It began in Florence, Italy in the 14th century. Renaissance latterly means rebirth in French. It completely changed European intellectual life in the early modern period. 1450 the printing press allowed for improved communication throughout Europe. Ideas spread.

    Tenochtitlán

    Tenochtitlán
    Tenochtitlán was the capital of the Aztec empire. It was located into what now would be Mexico City. 400 ,000 was the estimated population in 1519. It was the largest residential concentration in Mesoamerican history. The city was built on an island. what was then lake Trxcoco. Tenochtitlán was destroyed and concurred by Hernan cortes in 1521. when it was at its peak it was the largest city in pre-columbian Americas. Lake Texccoco was the largest of five interconnected lakes.

    The Aztec people are American Indian people that were dominant in Mexico. The Aztec language is Uto-Aztecan language. Nahuatl is a modern language that originates from Uto-Aztecan. Aztecs had the largest population of 20 million people. They were overthrown by Hernan Cortes and captured Tenochtitlan in 1521. The Aztec empire was one of the greatest empires of all time. The Aztecs ruled over 500 small states. Tenochtitlan was the most densely populated city in Mesoamerica that ever existed.

    The Black Death
    Spread across Europe threw 1346-1353. It killed 60 percent of the population on Florence. Around the same percent in Siena. The black death was an bubonic plague epidemic It was caused by bacterium Yersinia pestis. Humans got it from rodents that lived among them. house rats which are black rats. It spread so easily because of poop living conditions. People live in very dirty places. They were not big on sanitation. The rats got on ships and then spread to different countries. An epidemic.

    Henry the Navigator

    Henry the Navigator
    Was the third son of King John l and Philippa of lancaster. He captured the city of Moroccan of Ceuta in 1415. It is said that this was the starting point of his career. Became duke of Viseu and lord of Coviha. In 1420 when he was just 26 years of age he was made administrator general of the Order of Christ. The Order of Christ was what replaced the Crusading order of Teplars. Located in Portugal. He was ans originator of the age of exploration. He passed away November 13th , 1460.

    It is a device that applies pressure to an inked surface . was a great improvement on early printing methods. It changed many things. It introduced the mass era of communication. There was a increase in demand for books. Before the printing press there was hand-copying. Hand -copying was a very time consuming process.The printing press had rapid economic and social cultural development . Was modeled after the wine-and-olive press of the Mediterranean area. It changed things till this day.

    Leonardo Da Vinci
    An Italian polymath of the Renaissance. leonardo was born in Tuscan hill town of vinci. Was interested in many things such as painting, sculpting, music , mathematics. Was a prime exemplar of the "Universal Genius". He was born out of wedlock . The Mona Lisa is the most famous work of his along side The Last Super. The painting of The Last Super is the most printed/ reproduced religious paintings of all time. Leonardo passed away May 2nd, 1519 near Amboise in France.

    American Indians gave Christopher Columbus dried tobacco leaves as a gift. In the 1600's tobacco was so popular it was even used as money. could pay taxes and even marriage licenses.It was first discovered Mesoamerica by native people. Became a large cash crop. The colonies traded it with European countries.Jamestown was a colony that grew tobacco. It was one crop that would actually grow in the horrible conditions of Jamestown. when it was introduced to Europe it became so necessary to them.

    Were religious members. Puritanism arose from and within the Church of England. It was meant to purify the Church of England. King Henry Vlll was the one that caused Protestantism by separating from the church of England leading to everything else. Puritan decided to take the long and hared journey to the Americas in search for religious freedom. They were running away from persecution. They migrated to Massachusetts Bay.

    John Smith played a major role in the establishment of The Jamestown colony.He was the first English explorer to map out Chesapeake Bay area. Know for saying "he that will not work, shall not eat". He believed that to stay alive everyone had to do their part.Jamestown had horrible weather and had bad conditions but it still managed to survive because of Smith. He was captured by native Americans. That is how the story of Pocahontas came to be. But it is nothing like the Disney version of things.

    Is a system that allows people to own individuals. It allows them to be sold. It is without connect.The slave is forced to do whatever their master wants them to do. Slavery became very large thing in the New England colonies. Especially when the the triangular trade and middle passage came to be. Slaves were traded like cattle. slavery is forced labor. Slavery split families apart. Many of the people that were being traded though ships didn't make it because of horrible conditions.
