    7 Year War that Added to DeficitIn this time period the government wasn't bringing in enough money to keep up with their spending. At the top of the social food chain were the clergys and church workers. Then it went to the nobles. Lastly it reached the third estate which was the middle class consisting of rural peasants and a fewer higher people. Alot of this debt came from paying for the wars the French participated in.

    Louis XVI Calls the Estates-General
    Louis XVI calls for the Estate-Genral prior to their meeting Louis has asked them to prepare a notebook listing their grievances. Much like when America was first born the only people who could vote were men with property. When they met it was on a tennis court outside of Versailles. Once the people wanting to reform the government joined the clergy, Louis XVI accepted the declaration.
  • Storming Bastille

    Storming Bastille
    In this part of the Revolution there is a enormous group of people who just aren't agreeing with the king and don't agree with fuedalism or a monarch. The people storming the Bastille are looking to form a new kind of government. This all started from a rumor that the royal army was going to occupy the capital.

    National Assembly Acts

    Guillatine The National Assembly would get together and start this reformation. They abolished fuedalism, and took away their own privelages. The first thing they right is the "Declaration of Rights of Man." Once this is written men have a couple new rights. This causes a revolt by some women in Paris who storm Versailles to capture the king and his family. Most importantly his wife. Again things got started on some rumors about the kings wife saying "We have no bread, we should give them cake."

    National Assembly Acts Part 2

    GuillatineThis rumor is what causes the king and his wife to try and flee from Paris which is where they were relocated. The were trying to get to Austria. The royal family would dress up as peasants but get caught a couple miles from the border. Thus we get a king without a head because the people thought he was being a coward by trying to leave in their most desperate time. Thus the French Constitution was written.

    Threats from Abroad
    After Louis XVI and his wife try to escape, Prussia and Austria issue the Declaration of Pilnitz. This was a threat to intervene in France to protect the monarchy. This caused the people to prepare for war due to the fact that they thought it was a real threat.

    Monarchy is Abolished
    French is undergoing the change of government. They decided they wanted to have a Republic. So they will overthrow the king and then have him tried for being a traitor to the country. They will execute him and eventually his wife Marie Antoinette. Now their newfound government will try and get the country back to being a stronghold in Europe.

    Robespierre and the Reign of Terror

    Maximilien RobespierreRobespierre was the cheif architet in the Reign of Terror. He was the one who invented the gullotine and started this mass murder event. He found this reign of terror necessary to bring France through their revolution. He killed the people who weren't for the republic.
