Comanches attack and kill women and children and take some as prisoners. -
Cherokee Treaty
Texans made a treaty with Cherokees if they fought with independance with them they could have land titles. Texas failed in giving them that and resulted in multiple raids. -
Sam Houston elected.
Mr. Sammy served 2 terms. -
Organize New Gov.
Texans met in Columbia to organize the new government. -
Independant
U.S recognized Texas as an idependant nation, but didn't want to annex at the time. -

Santa Fe Expedition
They wanted to trade with Mexico along the Rio Grande, what Texas claimed as the border, but Mexico fought with them and several men died. -
German Immigration
A German society, the Adelsverein, purchased land for settlements in Central Texas. -
Battle of Plum Creek
Comanches are defeated. -
Mier Expedition "Black Bean"
Texans attacked Mexico and surrendured on December 26 1842. Out of 176 prisoners one tenth were to die, so the Mexicans put white and black beans in a jar and the 17 men that picked black beans were executed and the white beaned were sent to prison. -

Officials went to Austin to take records of Republic of Texas toAustin and started the War. -
Anson Jones
Anson, the last president was elected. -
Annexation
Texas and the United States signed a treaty and United States also decided to pay all of the debts of the Republic of Texas. -
2nd Annexation
Congress approved and held more favorable terms.
