    A Serbian group of rebels called the Black Hand, planned an attack on the Archduke. He was visiting Sarajevo, with his wife. June 28 was the date Serbia had been conquered by the Ottoman empire in 1389. The assassination was a significant event, because it is the trigger of the war. If the assasination did not occur, the war would maybe not have happened.

    After the assassination of the Archduke, Austria gave Serbia an ultimatum or a set of demands. To avoid war, Serbia had to end all anti-Austria and punish everyone who was a part of the assassination. Serbia agreed on most of the terms, but not all of them. It ended with Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This is a significant event, since Austria-Hungary is the first country to declare war on anyone in WW1.

Britain had signed a treaty guaranteeing Belgian neutrality. This is a significant event, since Germany did all those small things that made the war even worse.

    The battle was fought from August 26 to August 30, 1914. It was a battle between Germany and Russia. The result from the battle was almost complete destruction of the Russian Second Army. The battle is known for the fast rail movements of the Germans and for the failure of the Russiaans to encode their radio messages. This is a significant event, since this weakened the Russian army, and lead to other battles that destroyed the First army as well.

    German forces was moving towards France. The commander of the German troops got the order from the headquarters to go back. He ignored and procceeded towards to attack France. When France heard it, they got ready and planned their attack plan. It ended with the Allied won over Germany. This is a significant event, since this is when the trench warfare begins as the soldiers on both sides dig in.

    This was a treaty that was signed March 3, by the new government in Russia. The treaty was between Russia and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey). This treaty ended Russia's participant in World War 1. This is a significant event since now Russia is no longer in war with the Central Powers and things starts to settle down.
