Treaties
Prior to all of this, there were a bunch of little peace treaties going on among the different countries. There was one called the Triple Entente and the other was called the Triple Alliance, which each had countries that ended up crisscrossing among themselves and aligning with others as a way to protect themselves. -
Alliances
While these countries were gaining alliances and defense systems against other people they were all also investing a lot of money into their military, trying to modernize it and make it the best that it could be in comparison to the others. -
Austrian Throne Heir
Heir to the Austrian throne was killed along with his wife. The Austrian government had thought that it was connected to the Serbian movement going on at that time. -
Ultimatums
The assassination of the heir led to the Austria-Hungary people to go and give the Serbians something they could choose between. They had the help from Germany behind them. Serbia had started to make their troops mobilized and ready to go to war if needed. -
Preparation
Austria-Hungary ended up cutting away from Serbia and prepared their troops after Serbia had started to prepare their own -
War begins
Austria declares war on Serbia days later. While this is happening Britain had tried to get the major powers of Europe to all try and resolve these problems between Austria and Serbia. Germany refused. When that happened, Britian called in the "big guns" to try and convince Germany to help. -
Continuation
When Russia tried to convince Germany to help them resolve the issue, Germany refused which lead both countries to start getting their troops together and getting ready for war. "Russia begins full mobilization. Germany demands that it stop" (Canadian Press). -
Big Issues
Germany ended up declaring war on Russia. France and Belgium start to mobilize their troops to get ready for anything. This leads Germany to declaring war on France also. -
Bigger Issues
After Germany declared war on France, then they invaded a country that was neutral. This lead to Britain demanding it to stop, which Germany just ignored. This brought war to Germany from Britain and all those aligned with them. -
Biggest Issues
Final straw before the big bang, France and Britain declare war on Austria-Hungary because they were invading Serbia. Which leads to Russia invading Germany. This is the big fall out between everyone that is WW1.
