Hundreds of people were involved in the signing and the final ceremony held in the Hall of Mirrors could hold hundreds of people. The treaty was finally signed on June 28th 1919 after months of argument and negotiation between three large powers. The three were David Lloyd George of Britain, Clemenceau of France and Woodrow Wilson of America.

    During the Great Depression, Germany was facing many economic problems in their country. The reason they suffered so much was because of The Treaty of Versailles. It was supposed to help disbutes over the recently fought war, World War l. Germany had to still fix their country up after the War and the damage that was done not to mention the military who were used.

The chancellor refused to be allies with such a "barbaric" nation. After this Germany occupied Austria and took it over.

    On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. They Polish were defeated within weeks. The Germans, equiped with more than 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes, broke through Polish defenses. The Polish did not have the firepower to beat, or even withstand the Germans. Many innocent people died in Poland. It was a massacre.

    The Auschwitz Death Camp in Birkenau was the largest of its kind established by the Nazis. It was made up of 3 camps, all of which the captives were forced into hard manual labor. One of these camps was just used as a killing machine for many years. The camps were located 37 miles west of Krakow just at the edge of the prewar German-Polish border.
