Hitler's Saturday Surprises
The first saturday surprise took place on a weekend when Brittish leaders retreated to their country homes. Hitler announced, in the name of defense, that he was going to rebuild the German air force, reinstate the draft, and reaffirm the nation. He stated, to the Reichstag, that this was strictly a defensive measure to defend Germany on any measure of war in Europe. -
Taking Austria
Hitler first summoned Austia's prime minister Kurt Von Schuschnigg to a secret meeting that lasted 11 hours. Hitler insulted and threatened the prime minister in order to try to make Austira side with Germany to become part of "Greater Germany' Then on march 11 Nazi troops invaded Austria to help them make up their mind on joining Germany or not. Finally when the people voted 99.7 percent were in favor of joining Germany. -
Appeasing Hitler
Hitler tries to take over the western area of Czechoslovakia known as Sudetenland. Czechoslovakia does not want their land taken away so they call for allies to help. Italy called a meeting in Munich, Germany between Germany, France, and Great Brittain to help start negotiations about territory. In the end Germany gets the land they want. -
Death Threats and Broken Promises
Hitler tells the Reichstag that other nations were hypocritical in their complaints about the mistreatment of Jews. Hitler admits to the world that if Jews start another world war they will be annihilated by Hitler. Also Hitler threatens many countries to join Germany and then presidient Roosevelt speaks out whom Hitler brushes aside and paise no attention to. -
Targeting Poland
German soldiers dressed themselves in Polish army uniforms then killed several prisoners from the nearby concentration camp at Gleiwitz. Next morning the German soldiers and the SS marched into Poland to declare war on the country for their "killing of prisoners." Germany defeated Poland in 18 days but started a world war II while doing it. -
Conquests in the West
Hitler takes control of all Western Europe except Great Brittain. Now Germany has control of almost all of Europe except few neutral countries. Jews found no safe place to live and retreating to Palenstine was no longer a safe option. Jews started to get mass deported into death camps and concentration camps. -
Conquests in the East
Hitler declares that Polish education shall not go past the 4tth grade of elementary school. The children will only learn simple math, how to write their name, and the laws of Germany. Hitler kidnapped any Polish children who had "Ayran" features and brought them back to Germany. -
The Invasion of Russia
Hitler ordered an invasion into Russia to destroy all the Jews living in the area. Four SS units went into Russia and each had a specific area to kill anyone who might be considered an enemy to Germany. Jews in Russia were not expecting this slaughter and thousands of Jews were killed. -
The United States Enters the War
The Russians and other communist enemies of Hitler held their own in the war and were not going to quite. Germany was the country that was getting tired. Soon Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in the U.S. which causes the U.S. to declare war on Japan. Japan, being an ally to Hitler, asks for help from Germany against the U.S. Hitler then declares war on the U.S. and the U.S, Brittain, and Soviet Union unite against hitler.
