    Italy joined the dual alliance beteween Germany and Austria-Hungary creating it to be a triple alliance. The triple alliance was a military alliance created between the 3 countries. Without the countries and alliances their would be no war Germany deffinately also would not be as powerful as it was.

    Russia and Germany formed a secret treaty called "The Reinsurance Treaty" to replace the expiring Alliance of the three Emperors. One of Germanys goals in doing this was to take an ally away from France, making it weak and vulnerable.

    Kaiser Wilhelm II took charge of Germany forcing Otto van Bismarck to resign, because he was not satisfied with the way Otto van Bismarck handled Russia. Also Kaiser Wilhelm II wanted Germany to have a relationship with Austria and Britian Wilhelm II changes forigen policy

    A political and military agreement between France and Russia that became final on January 4th 1894. It stated that in the event of a war France wanted to be supported in the fight against germany. This goes the same for Russia but instead of support in a war against Germany, Russia wanted support agaisnt Austria-Hungary.

    An agreement between The British and French ending colonial dispuites and bitterness between the 2 countries. The treaty paved the way for Anglo-French diplomatic cooperation against Germany before World War I, and for later military alliances that were to be formed, Thus bringing the French and British togeather.

    A pact between Great Britian and Russia in which they settled their colonial disagreements in Persia, afganistand and tibet. This agreement led to the formation of the Triple Entente, later entering World War 1 as the allies.

    Austria annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina
    Austria took Bosnia and Herzegovina and made it their territory. They did this because they were afraid that the serbians would contiue to grow in population all over europe. Austria wanted to crush any serbian effort made to undermine its authority in the Balkans. This created Austria to become more powerful and Serbia to become weaker, helping Austria to advance in the war.

    From the Austrian-Hungarian throne, Archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sophie on their visit Sarajevo were assassinated in Bosnia by a 19-year-old Serbian who belonged to a secret society " the black hand" that wanted to get Bosnia out of the Austrian-Hungarian throne domination.

    Kaiser William II of Germany knowing the aggresive plans the Serbian's were having to take over the Slovanians in the territories of Bosnia and Herzegovinia offered Austria his support.

    After several attempts to take over Bosnia + Herzegovinia and the assasination of the Archduke, Austria gave Serbia "The July Ultimatum," which were a series of demands intentionally to make Serbia stop interfeering with their plans. A day after they present their ultimatum and before Serbia could answer Austria declared war.

Since Germany and Austria are allies Russia thought that Germany would help Austria fight in the war against Serbia, so Russia mobilized troops to the German border. In response to Russias action towards Germany, Germany declaired war onto Russia. To fight in the war Russia depended on its allies for support against Germany

    Two days after Germany declaired war onto Russia, after (Russia) asking its ally for support Germany declaired war onto France. This was a smart decision on behalf of the Germans, they were able to declaire war when France was not expecting it and it eliminated an ally to help Russia fight against Germany since France was now in its own war. In response to germany declairing war onto France Great Britian declaired war onto Germany.

    Was a major victory for the allies not only because they learned the German's weaknessess but also because they slowed down Germanys progress in all aspects in the war. This was beneficial as it helped Germany slightly fall behind. Creating the allies to attempt to take the lead.

    The Ottoman empire formally joined the central powers in 1914 to form the triple alliance and in hopes of regaining lost territories, it was offical after the signing of the Turco-German Alliance. By joining the central powers it created more of a conflict that would have a bad effect in the long run, that was that another country joined an alliance creating it to be an even bigger war soon leading to almost the whole world in the war.

Not going as wanted taking an effort to the dardanelles strait led to another stalemate. So in December of 1915 the allies gave up on Dardanelle and retreated.

    Germany sent a telegram to Mexico asking if they would ally with Germany, and in return Germany would help Mexico gain territory it had previously lost to the United States. Great Britian intercepted the telegram and sent it to the United States. This was the "last straw" for the United States. In result of the Zimmermann note The United States entered the war on the Allied side.

    Russia's internal political and social unrest drove to the abdication of the Tsar Nicholas II. It's government was taken over the Bolshevik Party led by Vladimir Lenin, who demanded Russia for immediate withdraw from the war. This effected the allied powers greatly in a negative way by loosing a country as an ally in war and their men to fight.
