Germany, Autria- Hungary, nad Italy became an alliance for better protection for eachother and having someone there who "has their back". Thus, forms the Triple Alliance. This effected the war becuase it scared the other nations who did not have an alliance, then the Triple Entende was born and that starts the war.

Otto von Bismarck had a second goal of avoiding fighting in a two front war. What Bismarck needed in order to not fight in a two front war was to form an alliance with Russia. Russia, later was removed from the alliance and Bismarck seeks Italy.

Wilhlem II let the alliance with Russia end because he did not like working with others and he wanted all of his power in his own hands. The effect of this event on the war caused other alliances to form which would cause Germany to fight on a two-front war.

Kaiser Wilhelm II had been the ruler of Germany three years before forcing Bismarck to resign. Wilhelm II did not work well with Bismarck so Wilhelm fired him. The effeect of this event on the was was that since Wilhelm II had strong nationalistic feelings toward Germany, he and his militarily became more aggressive.

The reaction of Russia from the expired alliance initiated by Wilhelm II was forming a defensive militay alliance with France. This was the exact idea that Bismarck was avoiding because it would make Germany the big target and it would cause Germany to fight a two- front war.

Germany was fighting with Britain's naval superiority even when Britain was under the "two-power rule". Germany was unified with nationalism, causing 'red flags' to go up in other countries. Germany produced the first dreadnought battleship which Britain was scared by and made an alliance with France. This entente then led to another entente in the war.

After the entente with just France, Britain made another one with France and including Russia. The three nations did not necessarily give what they need to fight with each other but they promised to not fight against each other. The land of the Triple Entente did create a circle around Austria- Hungary and Germany. Which afecte the war because the entente could fight all sides of the Triple Alliance.

Austria gave Serbia an ultimatum. Austria demanded to condemn anti- Austrian publications and propaganda, censor anti-Austrian societies, ban anti-Austrian teachersand books from schools, get rid of any government officials that Austria might name, accept help from Austria in checking obnoxious propaganda, and allow Austrian officials to help in the investigation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Serbia failed to refuse due to the such harsh terms.This effected the war becasue it changed Serbia.

Austria has declared war on Bosnia. In responce of declaring was, Russia, allies with Bosnia, mobilized their troops toward the Austrian border. The war had officially begun. This event is significant to the war because it was the day World War I started.

Russia had responded to Austria declaring war on Serbia by mobilizing their russian troops towards the Austrian border. Expecting Germany to fight for Austria, Russia also sent troops toward the German border. Germany responded by declaring war on Russia. Russia had to rely on its allies for help.

Germany counterattacked the Russians at Tannenberg. During the four day battle, the Germans pushed nvading Russian army into full withdrawl. More than 30,000 Russian soldiers have died.

After Germany declared war on Russia, Russia allied France for help. Germany declared war on France before France could respond to Russia to assist them. The two war declarations were only two days apart. In response, Great Britain declared war on Germany.

The Battle of Limanowa took place from December 1 and December 13, 1914. The battle was between Austro-Hungarian Army and Russian Army near the town of Limanowa.The Austro-Hungarian assumed that if the Germans were succesful that it would weaken Russian forces. As a result, the threat to the Hungarian plains disappeared.

Germany chose to sink the U.S.S Lusitania because they thought that the ship was holding items used for war to the Triple Entente. As they sunk the ship, the Germans did not realize that this ship was holding American passengers. When they sunk the ship, some Americans died which made America really upset and angry. In result, America wanted to join the war and defeat Germany.

The United States has recieved the Zimmerman Note from the Germans. The Zimmermann Note stated that Germany would now ally with Mexico. Mexico was asked by the Germans to help them. In return, the Germans would attempt to get back the terriory that they already lost from the US. As a result, America being even more upset, they joined the Triple Entente.

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was written for Russia and the central powers. This was the start of Russia falling out on the war. This treaty was meant to end Russian participation in World War I.

Wilhelm was forced to step down from his power. Thus Germany had declared itself as a republic. An Armistice was signed when Marshal Foch and a German republic met and all the fighting stopped as a result.
