Some of the reasons why the United States joined the war was because of submarine warefare. Over a course of several years Germans sunk US boats. The Germans sunk a crusie ship called Lusitania, killing 128 Americans. The war fighting had stopped in November, but it took awhile for a peace treaty to be agreed. The Treaty of Versailles was harsh. Germany was forced to claim as the cause of the war, and forced to pay a tremendous amount of money to repair damages. Germany had land taken away from them and were forced to cut down on their military. This angered Germany, and became the cause for the next World War.
