    The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was my first event because it was the spark to WWI. There were many tensions rising in Europe, but no action was taken until the assassination. I felt it was the first most significant event, because of the later events that were in response to the assassination.

    Austria Declares War on Serbia
    In response to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia and blamed them for killing their Archduke.   • Britain Ultimatum

    At unrest due to Germany's attack on Belgium, Britain gave Germany until 12 am midnight to remove troops from Belgium. Germany did not comply, which causes Great Britain to declare war on Germany.

    This was the first physical invasion of world war one. Germany came into Belgium and destroyed everything in sight and took over. After the battle, Germany now had access for troops to stay in the country, which was uneasy for Britain to handle.     Austria gets involved in World War 1 after declaring war on Russia with Germany's full support. Russia was blamed for the assassination.

    Japan declares war on Germany for the invasion of Belgium, which is Japans first action into World War 1.

    Russia was declared war on by Hungary with German support, and Turkey was under Axis rule, so Russia declares war on Turkey.
  • Britain and France declare war on the Ottoman Empire

    Britain and France once again team up and declare war on the same day towards the Ottomans. The backbone of the Allies started with those two countries and they stuck together very well.

    Germans use huge Zeppelin aircraft to bomb strike Great Britain, which was the first time Germany whipped out the Zeppelin for war purposes.

    Germans use tear gas
    Germany uses it's technology and powerful military and launches an attack using mustard poison gas which was the first of its kind. Soldiers on both sides would be required to wear gas masks to counter the effects of the mustard gas.
  • Lusitania torpedoed

    Lusitania torpedoed
    The beautiful ocean liner owned by Britain was torpedoed by German U-boats, destroying the rig all together. After the ship was sunk, America stepped into action to save the day.
  • Battle of Verdun Begins

    The Battle of Verdun was France vs Germany. It was a crucial must-win for France, but they suffered a gruesome defeat and it cost them 700,000 men.
  • Tsar Nicholas II takes over Russia

    Tsar Nicholas II takes over Russia
    With Russia's government at a scramble, Nicholas II walks into the Capital building and declared himself Tsar and organized and created the powerhouse that we know today as Russia.
  • United States gets involved in War

    United States gets involved in War
    Woodrow Wilson declares war on Germany after seeing Germany slowly demolish all of Asia and Europe. The Lusitania was the breaking point and a cry for help to get America into war.
  • Battle of Cambrai

    Alas, a Victory for the allied powers. Germany was weakened and took a major blow to the chest after the gruesome defeat at Cambrai. The war was almost over and, Germany was almost taken down.
  • Battle of Vittorio Veneto

    The Italians won and had the last laugh for it was the last battle. The war was over, and all that was left was the paperwork.
  • War ended

    An armistice was signed by both the Allies and Germany, and that ended the war. Germany was completely embarrassed and had to pay dearly.
