Austria Hungary declares war on Serbia- The first movement of WW1
Serbia Assassinated the Archduke of Austria Hungary because they were fearful of the power Austria Hungary was beginning to obtain. Serbia partnered with Russia, Great Britain, Italy, and France against Austria Hungary and the German Empire. -
The German Empire creates central powers with Austria Hungary
Germany realizes that they are surrounded and that Russia is very large and powerful. Germany basically sets up a protection agency with Austria Hungary to defeat all of the other smaller nations that were trying to overthrow them. -
Lusitania
The American Ship "Lusitania" was sank by German U-boats producing American interest in engaging in war with Germany. -
America enters war by joining Allies.
Wilson leads America into war and formally joins the Allies -
End of War
The war ends. Germans start hugging Americans in their trenches. -
Treaty of Versailles
Wilson brings this treaty into America and runs alll sorts of campaigns for it's passing. So much turmoil and disagreement over amending it and reserving it caused it to never be passed. America spent a year on conflicts over this treaty while Germany suffered economically and became vulnerable...ultimately leading them to Hitler's rule and WW2.
