The war reached a stalemate, which is a situation when neither can beat the enemy because they are so balanced. What created the stalemate was the devastating firepower of modern weapons, the armies were forced to adapt their tactics and pursue new technologies. -
The battle of the Marne was between the French army and the British Expeditionary Force against the Germans. It succeeded by the Germans being pushed back for about 40-50 miles. With that saved the capital city of Paris from capture. It was a very strategic victory for France. -

New weapons were made to help with battle easier. The new technology inventions was machine guns, grenades, and artillery, along with new weapons such as submarines, poison gas, warplanes, and tanks. Machine guns helped with lowering the rank of soldiers from a distance on the battlefield. These weapons and more such as barbed wire and mines made it difficult and more dangerous to move across open nations, which that is when trenches were made. -
This was a period of a political and social revolution that took place at the former Russian Empire. The Russia abolished it monarchy and adopted a socialist form of government. -
America stayed neutral at the beginning of the war, individual had supported one side or the other. With America joining the war was the turning point of the war. The impact America made was making the eventual defeat of Germany possible. -
This was the ceasefire that ended the hostiles between the Allies and Germany. It did not end WWI itself but it did calm things down. It stopped the fighting on the Western Front while the terms of permanent peace were being discussed. The Allies won the war, and the Central Powers lost.
