    Rise of Kaiser Wilhelm II
    A ruler of Germany ,forced Bismarck to resign. Wilhelm let his nation’s treaty with Russia lapse in 1890. Russia responded byorming a defensive military alliance with France in 1892 and 1894. This was important to the progession because it created a bigger threat to Germany. Kaiser had alot of nationalism : patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts.

    Russia formined a defensive military alliance with France in 1892 and 1894. This is important because two strong nations joined together in war which made it a bigger threat to any enemies.

    Militarism: The policy of glorifying military power and keeping an army prepared for war. Many nations thought they needed a powerful military, all the nations but Britain had large standing armies. The European arms race was a race to see who could quickly mobilize, or organize and move troops in case of a war.

    Britain made another entente, with both France and Russia.didnot bind Britain to fight with France and Russia. However, it did almost certainly ensure that Britain would not fight against them. This is important to WW1 because it joined 3 strong forces together

    Austria annexing Bosnia and Herzegovina
    Austria took over Bosnia and Herzegovina. . Serbian leaders, who had wanted to rule these provinces, were outraged. In the years that followed, tensions between Serbia and Austria grew. The serbs continually vowed to take Bosnia and Herzegovina away from Austria. In response, Austria-Hungary vowed to crush any Serbian effort to undermine its authority in the Balkans.

    The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    While on vacation in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia the Archeduke and his wife were shot as they rode through the streets of Sarajevo in an open car. The killer was Gavrilo Princip, a 19-year-old Serbian and member of the Black Hand. The Black Hand was a secret society committed to ridding Bosnia of Austrian rule. This was the main cause of WW1 as Austria declared war on Serbia

    Austria rejected Serbia’s offer and declared war. This lead to world war 1 because other nations joined the war after it was first declared.

    Great Britian declares war on Germany. This is important because these two major forces are now at war together.

    Central pwers and Allies
    On one side were Germany and Austria-Hungary. They were known as the Central Powers because of their location in the heart of Europe. Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire would later join the Central Powers in the hopes of regaining lost territories. On the other side were Great Britain, France, and Russia. Together, they were known as the Allied Powers or the Allies( treaty for helping eachother) Japan joined the Allies within weeks.Italy joined later.Italy had been a member of the Triple Alliance.
