    Francis Ferdinand and Wife Attacked
    An Archduke named Fransis Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assasinated in Sarajevo by a Serbian Nationalist named Gavrilo Princip. On June 28, 1914, Francis and His wife were coming from an visit to the city hall. Some one was about to bomb their car so they sped away as their car was about to get bombed. But unfortunatley, they parked right infront of Gavrilo and he fired two bullets. Gavrilo Princip was a Slave and he thought that if he killed Francis, his people would be free.

    Austria declared war on Serbia on July 28, 1914. Austria - Hungary thought that the proper response to the assasinations was to prepare for a military invasion of Serbia. After securing the support of it's powerful ally Germany, Austria - Hungary presented Serbia with a ultamatum on July 23, 1914. They demanded among other things, all anti-Austrian propaganda was to be stopped. Also that Austria - Hungary would be allowed to conduct its own investigation into the death of Archduke Ferdinand.

    Britain declared war on Germany on August 4,1914. They declared war because of the German invasion of belgium. Belgium was regarded as a neutral state under international law since 1839. On August 1, Germany declares war on Russia. The same day, Britain asked the attorney's of France and Germany if they intended to honour neutrality in the event of war between themselves. The French stated immediatley that they intended to do so. Luckly, the German attorney declined to give a similar commitment.

    British land in Turkey decided to withdraw from Gallipoli. It took place in Turkey between April 25, 1915 and January 9, 1916. A joint British and French operation was started to capture the Ottoman capital of Constantinpole and secure a sea route to Asia. Unfortunatley, the attempt failed. The campaign was considered one of the most successful victories of the Turks and reflected on as a major failure by the Allies. Aprril 25, 1916, still remains the most signifigant part of World War One.

    On May 7, the ship neared the coast of Ireland. At 2:10 in the afternoon, A torpedo fired by the German submarine U20 slammed into her side. Another suprise explosion ripped the liner apart. The ship listened so badly and quickly, that life boats crashed into their passengers crowded on deck or dumped their loads into the water. Most passengers never had a chance. Within 18 minutes, the giant ship slipped beneath the sea. 1,198 people died including 228 Americans.

    On April 2, 1917 the president Woodraw Wilson asked congress for a declaration of war. The reason that the U.S. declared war on Germany was because of the Zimmermann Telegram where Germany offered Mexico: Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. But this was not the only agressive action that Germany had taken that the U.S. did'nt like. But 4 days later, all but 6 senators and 50 representatives voted for a war resolution. America had over 4million soldiers. John pershing led the troops.

    The battle of Caporetto was the most decicive battles of ww1. The Italian army suffered major losses at Caporetto. The attack started on October 24, 1917. The German attack completely surprised the Italians. The Gerrman commander Otto von Bulow was surprised by the success of his initial attacks. Cadorna ordered the central attack at Caporetto to man a definsive line. However, the commander Capello decided on the opposite. The Italians lost 300,00 men and 270,000 of these were captured.

    November 11, 1918 was the day that world war 1 ended. It started at 5 A.M on the morning of November 11th when a agreement was signed.The agreement called for the ending of world war 1 to start around 11 A.M that morning. People all over the world were celebrating and hailing the agreement that ended the war. But people were nervous and were afraid that German bombing planes were going to blast them out of existence. But still after 4 years of bloody conflict, the war was at an end.
