    Elizabeth 1 became queen after her older sister Mary died. She turned England back to Protestant and took rule over the church. She often was called Good Queen Bess.

    Jamestown was the capital of Virginia. About 100 settlers created the colony. Almost failed during the first two years of settling before having tobacco as a profitable export.
