    Vladimir Lenin was born on April 22, 1870 in Simbirsk, Russia. (Liversidge 178) He was born as Vladimir Ulanov, but later changed his last name to Lenin. He was born the third of six children and was born into a well educated family.
  • First Kentucky Derby

    First Kentucky Derby
    The First Kentucky Derby Happens. Oliver Lewis won the race, with his horse, Aristides. The race was finished in 2 minutes and 37 seconds. The nineteen year old would never race again, after earning a prize of 2,850 dollars.
  • First Light Bulb

    First Light Bulb
    Thomas Edison creates the first electrical powered light. After failing many times, Edison finally creates the first light bulb, by using a high-resistance, carbon-based, bulb that burned for 13 and a half hours. He later updated his design and filed a patent to make an electric lamp that used a carbon filament connected to platina contact wires. This would be the first successful lamp, and the light could last up to 1200 hours.

    Lenin earns his law degree after finishing college. (Naden 10) Lenin attended university in St. Petersburg from 1888-1892. He joins the law firm of A.N Khardin in Samara. He would later move to the city of Camara, where his clients mainly cosnsisted of Russian peasants.

    New Zealand is beomes the first country to allow women voters. The signing of the electoral bill by governor Lord Glasnow. This would get other countries to allow women voting also, with the United States allowing it in 1920, and Britian allowing it in 1928.
  • Meets idol

    Meets idol
    Lenin meets his idol Plekhanov in Switzerland (Naden 10) and is arrested for revolutionary activity. He also met many other Marxists too, and began to take part in their work. They would later be arrested in December 1895
  • Exiled to Siberia

    Exiled to Siberia
    Lenin is exiled to Siberia for three years. (Liversidge 178) During his exile, he meets his wife Krupskaya in 1898. She followed him in his exile. He also begins to use the last name Lenin in 1898, changing it from Ulanov.
  • Moving to London

    Lenin moves to London, where he meets Trotsky who later will be a big part of the Russian Revolution.

    The Wright Brothers fly the Kitty Hawk, the first airplane to ever take flight successfully. The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, discovered how to keep an airplane controlled while still in the air, leading to the first successful flght.
  • Bloody Sunday of 1905

    Bloody Sunday of 1905
    The bloody sunday of 1905 occurs. This was when a group of people made demands to the King, and imperial forces opened fire on the group, killing hundreds, whcih led to riots in Russia. This made Lenin's Bolshevik group storonger, and more ready for the revolution. Lenin returns to Russia on January 22,1905. On November 21, Lenin's revolution fails.

    Lenin lives in hiding in Finland. (Naden 11) This was not his first time living in hiding, and it would not be his last. He was running for the police many different times and fled to other places to hide from them.
  • Devastating Earthquake

    Earthquake in Southern Italy kills 150,000 people. This earthquake, called the Calabria earthquake, was one of the most deadly European earthquakes at the time, and is still considered one of the deadliest ever. It had a 7.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale and caused a tsunami with over 40 foot waves.
  • World War 1

    World War 1 begins. It was started by the assassination of a man named Archduke Franz Ferdinand. the war went from 1914-1918 and consisted of Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire fighting against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan, and the United States.
  • Becomes Head of State

    Becomes Head of State
    Lenin returns to Russia where the revolution reoccurs in Russia and Lenin becomes head of state in the revolution. This led to 3 years of civil war in Russia, with the people fighting to overthrow Lenin and his decisions.
  • Reign of Terror

    In 1918, Russia suffers many different problems. Lenin signs the treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany. Later, the civil war in Russia with Whites begins, whcih starts the reign of terror. Someone attempts the assassination of Lenin, but the attempt fails on August 30. The Civil war would later end in 1920.
  • Death

    Death
    Lenin dies after suffering many illnesses. He had a bullet removed which later led to him being partially paralyzed. He also suffered 3 strokes within 2 years and died on the same day as the third stroke. (Liversidge 189)
