Building of the Panama Canal began during the year 1903 and was in the building process up until year 1914. The building of this canal helped with having the ability to ship goods with different coasts.

Venezuela Border Dispute

1895 BCE

The Venezuela Border dispute official started during the year 1841 due to British encroachment. However, the year of 1895 the Monroe Doctrine came along and congress enforced that go to war with Great Britain which led to more conflicts.

Alfred T Mahan "The Importance of Sea Power"

Alfred T Mahan was a man who was extremely influenced by sea powers. He had goals of comparing the history of Europe and America with the effects of sea powers.

Sinking of the USS Maine happened due to an explosion that was unknown and killed up to 260 people. After this event the United States defeated the Spain on land and sea which led to the Treaty of Paris and ended the war.

Treaty of Paris (1898) put an ended to the Spanish-American War and United States got granted as the oversea empire. By the war ending the United States took over more of the Spanish territories.

Platt Amendment was created by Senator Orville Platt and it's purpose was to declared the independence of Cuba. Not only did it declare the independence of Cuba but it also created the protection of life and property.

Roosevelt Corollary
