    President James Monore establishes a policy and it said that any country cannot colonize or take any land from the Western Hemisphere and if that were to happen, the United States would get involved. James Monroe was an advocate for Nationalism and reached out to every region in the country, but he cut all ties with all the European countries and practiced isolationism. Also, it showed that the US didn't want to stay in the shadows and we were rising to power.

    The Spanish-American War

    It was a war between Spain and The United States. The Cubans were trying to get independence from Spain and they were losing. The United States wanted to have a good relationship with Cuba because they have resources that the US doesn't. Also representative of the US in Cuba was also asking for help so they send a ship called the USS Maine was sent to go help b, but as it was getting close it mysteriously sank. The people were quick to blame Spain for the incident.

    The Spanish-American War continue pt 2

    The fleet took out the Spanish in the Philippines well in Cuba. Finally, when the Treaty of Paris was made, it ended the war and it gave Spain gave possession of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines to the United States and Cuba finally got their independence. This war showed that the US was a police officer in the western hemisphere and was a powerful country military-wise.

    The Spanish-American War continue

    A reason for the quick accusation was the yellow journalism that was happening. The journalist was making stories that some were fake and lots of people believed in some of the stories so when the news about the Maine sinking, the public didn't take it lightly. In a few months the US went to war against Spain. Most of the fighting was in Cuba, but there was a fleet sent to the philappines because the US though that they can trade with the countries in Asia if they had access to the Philappines.
