  • Chinese Nationalists oust the last Qing emperor, Puyi

    The Nationalists supported modernization and nationalism. They ousted the Puyi because he did not filly support these ideas and established themselves as rulers. Unfortunately they did not have enough power and could not impart their ideas well.
  • World War I begins as Austria declares war of Serbia

    Austria's ruler was assasinated by the Black Hand, a group in albania. The ruler was killed by a scout in the group starting World War 1.
  • U.S. Enters the war

    The U.S, entered the war because Britain owed them more money. the y also did it because of the sinking of the Lusitania, which killed 100s of US citizens, and the Zimmerman Telegram, which told the Mexicans to invaqde America.
  • Armistice signed as Allies defeat Central Powers

    The Armistice was signed to give the Allies time to make the Treaty of Versailes. It gave 10 days of peace, and if it continued, ten more days would happen.
  • Gandhi leads Indian camapaign of civil disobedience

    Gandhi lead through principles that were noviolent. He made peaceful protests like the salt March and sewed his own clothes.
  • Mustafa Kemal transforms Turkey into Republic

    Mustafa Kemal, even though Turkey was 98% Muslim, turned Turkey into a republic (run by the people). He also seperated Church and State.
  • Mao Zedong heads Long March

    The Communist party went on the march to escape the Nationalist party. On the way many people died due to exposure and starvation. They were chased by Jiang Jieshi and eventually settled in caves in the North East.
