    Sharecropping/Tenant Farming
    Sharecropping is a system where farmers worked on others land for a portion of their goods.Tenant farming is a system where a person rents land from another to work on it and get the goods.
  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    The 13th amendment is put up to stop slavery.Slavery is not allowed in any state or territory under the government of the U.S.A.
  • Black Codes

    Black Codes
    These codes prevented black people to vote.They prohibited interracial marriages.The significance was that these codes was how the black people felt defined as a person.
  • 14th amendment

    14th amendment
    The 14th amendment was set so that anyone person that is born in the united states are subject to the laws.No one can be denied to the laws and rights under the constitution.
  • 15th amendment

    15th amendment
    Any citizen can vote no matter what race,gender, or because once a slave.This made a change to the society over the voting process.People felt as if they had more equal rights.

    Racial segregation on public transportation.A statement came further “separate but equal”.This law gave the black people social,educational and economic disadvantages.
  • Lynching

    Lynching in when a mob hangs a person for a crime or unworthy act.The white people were usually the ones to lynch the black people.People could lynch others without going to court.
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    Case from supreme court about a black man who didn't think riding another train cart was necessary.This case was important because it ruled "equal but separate."
  • Civil Disobedience

    Civil Disobedience
    A public and non violent act to change policies or laws.Showing civil disobedience is a political statement.Many think it is right when standing up for something they believed in.

    This amendment was made to give women the right to vote.It took more than 60 years to ratify this amendment.Elizabeth Cady and Susan Anthony were the women that helped make this amendment happen.

     20th amendment
    This amendment was set to shorten the amount of time a member of congress has for reelection in the office.This amendment is also known as lame duck amendment.

    The federal housing authority aka FHA was made to provide lower cost of housing for the poor.This act was most popular around the age of depression.If the person was poor and needed a home the banks would help with loans.

    A sit-in is a nonviolent protest.This type of protest is when a person wont leave a place they are protesting against.Sit-ins were the most used type of protest.

    Martin helped shape the society into a non violent one.He is a powerful public speaker.Martin also shaped the American civil rights.

    Court case that over ruled the Plessy v. Ferguson case.Changed the “equal but separate” to it not being equal.This case is important because it was the start of schools being interracial.

    Rosa Parks is an african american woman.She is the second woman to stand up and say no about moving seats on city bus for a white man.She started the bus boycott.

    The Montgomery bus boycott is a stand almost all black people helped in.This happened after Rosa parks said no to move on the bus.What the people did was not ride the buses,making the bus companies go broke.

    Cesar was a non violent labor leader.He was the co-founder of the National Farm workers association.Cesar helped Mexicans and latinos have their civil rights.

    Betty is woman that inspired other women from a book that she wrote.The book changed the lives of many american women to stand up.The society brainwashed the women to stay at home.

    This act was made to create an equal environment in the workplace aka EEOC.This is so that there is no discrimination at work.The act was the strongest right since the reconstruction.

    Head start is a program for the poor preschoolers.This program was made to help prepare the kids for elementary school.The program provided healthy meals and medical exams for the students.

    This is a program that helped with students with low income prepare for college.It has helped students improve advance academically.It has also provided counseling and financial support.
