  • Election 1900

    Republican President William McKinley defeated Democrat nominee William Jennings Bryan for the second time.
  • Assassination of President William McKinley

    Leon Czolgosz fired two shots point blank at the president. The president was rushed to the hospital and doctors thought that he would make a full recovering. However on September 14th, President McKinely died and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt became president.
  • Election of 1904

    The Republican incumbant president Theodore Roosevelt beat Democrat Alton B Parker by a large margin.
  • Election of 1908

    Republican William Taft won the Presidency in 1908 against Democrat William Bryan.
  • Election of 1912

    Democrat Woodrow Wilson defeated Progressive candidate Bull Moose, Republican candidate Theodore Roosevelt, as well as Republican William Taft.
  • Panama Canal

    The Panama Canal is about 50 miles in length and connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The Panama Canal made is much easier for ships to travel from the east coast of America to the west coast of America because now they did not have to go around South America.
  • Election of 1916

    Democrat incumbent president Wilson defeated Republican Charles Evans Hughes.
  • America Enters World War 1

    President Wilson went before Congress and asked them for a declaration of war against Germany on April 2nd, 1917. This is because Germany had used submarines against passenger ships that carried American passengers. Because of Germany's unchecked use of submarines and other aggressions towards the United Staes Congress officially declared war on Germany on April 4th, 1917.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    The treaty of Versailles officially held Germany responsible for world war one and gave Germany several harsh punishments. President Wilson was a big advocate in preventing another world war and so he wrote his 14 points. These 14 points later turned into The League of Nations.
  • Election 1920

    Republican nominee, Warren Harding easily defeated Democrat James Fox for the presidency.
