    This is the day that the Declaration of independance was written. Thomas Jefferson is the author of the Declaration of Independance, It is the day that we had declared our independence from Great Britian.

    Official Signing of U.S. Constitution
    This is the day that the U.S. Constitution was officially signed. It was signed by our founding fathers. And unlike the Articles of Confederation, which was almost a complete failure, was a successful written form of government.
  • The Cotton Gin

    The Cotton Gin
    The Cotton Gin (short for engine) was created by an american man named Eli Whitney. He created it on March 14, 1794. He had made the cotton gin to make seperating cotton from the seeds easier. But, after he made it, it caused a great demand for slaves in the south. While the cotton gin made seperating cotton from seeds easier, there were some down falls to the cotton gin. When slaves and other peole used the cotton gin, it tended to damage the cotton fibers.

    The Lewis and Clarck Expedition

    Lewis and clarck were two men who were sent out by Thomas Jefferson. He had wanted them to explore the new land and record new animals, plants, and Native American tribes. Thomas Jefferson had sent them out on their journey becouse he wantec to know what was out there. While they were on their journey, they had met a Native American who helped them survive and find their way. Her name was Sacagawea, and she did all of this with a baby on her back. Lewis And Clarck went out west on their tirp.

    Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War started on November 1st 1955. The Vietnam war started because of the rise of global communism. Many people here in the United States didn't understand why we got involved with the Vietnam war, and when soldiers returned home, they were treated very poorly. But after many long years, the war finally ended on April 30th, 1975.
    Fun Fact: My grandfather was in the Vietnam war.

    Apollo 11 Moon Landing
    Apollo 11 was the spacecraft to land the first humans on the moon. It launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16th 1969. It actually landed on the moon July 20 1969.
  • Eruption of Mt. St. Helens

    Eruption of Mt. St. Helens
    On this day, in Washington state, Mt. St. Helens erupted. It was caused because of magma in a shallow depth under the volcano. Because of Mt. St. Helens, 15 miles of railroad, 47 bridges, and 250 homes were destroyed.
