Jem, Scout, and Dill try and look into Boo Radley's window. Nathan Radley comes out with a shot gun and fires at the kids. While running away, Jem ripped his pants on the fence. He had to take them off and leave them. Later the kids find the pants mended and folded.

Jem and Scout find more treasures in the knothole of the tree. They find soap carvings, spelling medal, pocket watch, chain, and a knife. A day later the knothole is filled with cement.

Miss Maudie's house burns down. Boo Radley puts a blanket around scout's choulders.

Mrs. Dubose, who Jem was reading to dies. Jem cutt down Mrs. Dubose's camellias several months earlier. Reading to her was his punishment for destroying her flowers.

Atticus and the children stop a lynch mob at the jail. The mob wants to hang Tom Robinson before the trial.

Scout, Jem, and Dill watch the trial of Tom Robinson in the balcony. Despite Atticus' best efforts, Tom Robinson is convicted of raping Mayella Ewell.

Bob Ewell attacks Scout and Jem the night of the Halloween Pageant. Boo Radley saves the kids by stabbing Bob Ewell. Scout sees Boo and takes him back to his home.
