  • Meeting Dill

    Early in the summer Jem and Scout meet a boy around their age named Dill. He intoduces them into the mystery of Boo Radley. This is important because the kids come very interested with Boo and they messed with him. The mystery lasts almost the whole book and creates many importnant adventures for the kids.
  • The Radley games

    Scout discovers a hole in a tree with gum inside of it. She takes the gum and shows Jem. The tree is very mysterious to the kids and they think Boo has something to do with it. When Dill comes back in the summer the three kids play games on Boo. This sparks an interest in Boo and the mystery.
  • Jem's Pants

    Jem loses when he almost gets caught while playing a trick on Boo. Jem knows that if Atticus realizes Jem does not have his pants everyone will find out it was him that snuck into the Radley yard, so he goes to get them. When he retrieves his pants the hole he had made in them is sewn up. This makes Jem cry because he feels terrible that Boo Radley helped him and saved him from a lot of trouble when Jem was playing games on him.
  • Winter in Maycomb

    Winter in Maycomb
    The kids have never seen snow in their lives. This winter is important because they get to experience something new. Jem and scout build a snowman that looks like Mr. Avery. The snowfall is so rare that the school gets cancelled.
  • Ms. Maudie's house burns down

    Ms. Maudie is a character that influences the kids greatly. Now her house is burnt down and destroyed. Maudie shows her strength and the kids show their support. While the fire was going on and the people of Maycomb were gathered watching Scout mysterioulsy gets a blanket and they suspect that Boo gave it to her.
  • Church with Cal

    Calpurnia decides to take Jem and Scout with her to church one morning. This is important because the kids have never been to a colored church. This is also around the time that everyone finds out that Atticus will be representing Tom Robinson in the upomcoming trial. The people at the church are supportive and welcoming towards the children.
  • Trial

    Trial
    The trial is a big deal Maycomb. Everyone in town is there, including Jem and Scout. Atticus is very good at what he does and against all odds he proves Tom innocent without a doubt and everyone knows it. Yet, Tom is still gulity. The people of Maycomb are not ready to go against the way their society has been set up for years even though they know it is the right thing. Soon after Tom gets shot down while trying to escape the jail.
  • Confrontation at the Jail

    Tom Robinson was to be moved to the local jail. Atticus and some others were worried that some countryfolk would go to the jail and try to kill Tom. So, Atticus went up to the jail to himself to guard it. To no suprise a group of men, including Mr. Cunnigham shoed up trying to start trouble. It ended up being Scout that came to the rescue that night. She showed up and her complete innocence and relaxed conversation with the men caused them to leave.
  • School Play

    Scout plays a ham in her school play. Jem and Scout make the travel to the school by themselves. Coming back in utter darkness the two are afraid. They hear someone following them. That someone was Mr. Ewell and he attacked the kids attempting to kill them. Scout's ham costume saves her life and a mysterious person saves Jems.
  • Meeting Boo

    Meeting Boo
    After arriving home safely, Jem is unconcious and Scout is trying to put everything together. Heck Tate and Atticus are trying to figure out what exactly happened and who saved the kids. Scout spots a figure in the corner and realizes that it is Boo and that is who saved them.
