    Scout finds Walter Cunningham during break and starts to beat him up because he caused her to get off on the wrong foot with Miss Caroline.
  • Syrup Dinner

    Syrup Dinner
    Walter Cunningham drowns his dinner in syrup when he eats with Scout and her family.
  • Calpurnia's Scolding

    Calpurnia's Scolding
    Scout is called into the kitchen by Calpurnia when she starts criticizing Walter for pouring syrup all over his dinner. "There's some folks that don't eat like us, but you ain't called on to contradict 'em at the table when they don't. That boy is yo' comp'ny and if he wants to eat up the table cloth you let him, you hear?" Calpurnia says to Scout.
  • Cooties

    Cooties
    Burris Ewell is sent home to get rid of his cooties. Someone in the class explains to Miss Caroline that the Ewells usually just go to school the first day and don't come for the rest of the year.
  • Compromise

    Compromise
    Scout tells Atticus that Miss Caroline had been telling her to tell him to stop teaching her. When Atticus hears this, he explains to Scout what a compromise is and they come up with one. Atticus and Scout would continue to read everyday as long as she doesn't tell anyone.
