    Rubi began his inspection tour in Mexico, moved to Sonora, then to Coahuna. He crossed the Rio Grande and proceeded to San Saba where he visited the largely failed missions.

    Philip Nolan
    He wanted to go to Texas to capture mustangs. He showed the govenor of Louisiana the plan, and he approved. Him and a few of his employees had been making several trips to Texas. In the 1800's, Nolan was arrested for suspicious acts.

    Father Hidalgo
    Father Hidalgo was known as the father of Mexican independence because the first revolt against Spanish rule in Mexico. Mexicans celebrate Independence day and Cinco De Mayo in honor of their victory. The preside and rings the bell afterwards.

    Jose Gutierrez De Lara
    He was recieved by the secretary of State James Monroe. When he stayed in Washington the leader met ministers from around the world. Him and two other diplomats made plans for the liberation of Texas and Mexico.

    This battle was known as the most bloodiest battle ever. It took place twenty miles south of San Antonio. It afftected the destenies of many places.
  • Jean Lafitte

    Jean Lafitte
    He was given money to start a rival against D'Aury. Lafitte then turned against Spain and supported Mexico. One day the ships of Lafitte brought in a captured galleon, loaded with treasure. A furious hurricane hit and when it was over, the galleon was never found.
  • Dr. James Long

    Dr. James Long
    He joined the aremy to serve as a surgeon. Long was placed in command to conquer Texas with fellow citizens. He was "accidentally" killed by a guard.

    Merger of Coahuila y Texas
    The document resembled the United States Constitution in several ways, but also borrowed tenets from the Spanish Constitution of 1812. All newcomers had to take an oath promising to abide by the federal and state constitutions. Foreigners seeking land in Texas could negotiate individually.

    If it weren't for the Mexican federal constituion, we wouldn't have a constitutional government in Texas. There were many limitations on the powers of the presidents. The Surpreme Court was made up of eleven judges.
  • State Colonization Law of 1825

    State Colonization Law of 1825
    Mexico adopted a federal system similar to that of the United States. This law became the basis of all colonization law. No lands could be granted within twenty leagues of an international boundary.

    Constitution of Coahuila and Texas
    The Constitution divided the state into three departments. More than two years were spent on framing the constitution. The govenor could see that the laws are being obeyed by the citizens.
