    The Battle of France, also known as the Fall of France, was the successful German invasion of France and the Low Countries defeating primarily French forces. It consisted of two main operations. In the first, Fall Gelb,German armoured units pushed through the Ardennes and then along the Somme valley to cut off and surround the Allied units that had advanced into Belgium.

    Germany’s navy mutinied

    The Kiel mutiny was a major revolt by sailors of the German High Seas Fleet. The revolt triggered the German revolution which was to sweep aside the monarchy within a few days. It ultimately led to the end of the German Empire and to the establishment of the Weimar Republic.
