The First Saturday Surprise
When Hitler came into power one of the first bold things he did was break the treaty of Versailes. He did this on his first saturday surprise, which was to rebuild the German army. On march 8th he bdeclared that he was rebuilding the airforce, reinstating the army and rebuilding German arms. This was the first action they took out against other nations, and met no oppositions. -
The second Saturday Surprise
When Hitler was not met with any opposition after his first move, he decided that he could break the treaty even more. On march 7, Hitler instructed troops and fighter planes to move into the Rhineland. This land was set aside as a buffer between france and Germany, and was restricted from having occupied troops. When Hitler did this he called Frances bluff, because they did not atttack Germany for this move. -
Invade Austria
When Hitler allied with Italy he decided to take further step in invading Austria. In feburary he invited the Austrian Prime Minister to a secret meeting with the hopes of peacefully taking control of Austria. He demanded that the Prime Minister must combine Austria with the greater Germany. After the leader refused, Hitler sent forces to take over the country. -
The Appeasment at the Munich Meeting
After Austria, Hitler next looked to take over Czechslovikia. He threatened to start a war with the czechs if they did not give him a huge portion of their land. After the Prime Minister of Britian went to appease Hitler the issue was still not resolved. The leader of Italy called a meeting in Munich to try to solve the issue. Hitler would not bend on his demands, and said it was his last demand for land. They leaders decided to give Hitler a huge portion called the sudenten land to Germany. -
The lies and betrayal of Adolf Hitler
Hitler continues to lie and betray the other nations in order to gain power. Soon after the allies appeased Hitler in Munich, he was once again back stabbing them. He claimed they were trying to destroy Germany and vouched for war. He took over the rest of czechslovikia without the consent of the other nations, after he said he would not. He then threatened to take over poland, and this is when Britian finally realizes there may be war. -
Hitler declares war on Poland
Nazis trick Poland into thinking that there soliders attacked Germans. Hitler uses this lie to declare war on Poland. German soliders raided Poland, without much help from other nations. They killed a lot of people in order to take control. They began to exterminate all polish Jews, and any people they felt were not obedient to the German rule. Destroyed Government and Jewsih buildings. -
Conquering the West
The Nazis were able to use there power to conquer most of the West. In april, they made there first attacks and forced Denmark and Norway to surrender. They had even more success in early may, conquering Beligum, Netherlands, and Luxemburg. Hitler kept on pushing his troops until they defeated France. The only country that was still fighting was Great Britian. Britian changed there government to have Winston Churchill as the new prime minister. He put britian strongly into the war. -
Conquering the East
After Poland surrendered to Germany then the Nazis took control of most of the east. They renamed poland and made it into two diffrent sections. In one section, they put the polish and german people and the other they built some of the first concentration camps. Germans were treated better, and the polish people were subject to abbuse and arrests. Many Jews and Polish people were sent to labor camps or ghettos. -
The Invasion of Russia
Hitler decided that in order to continue his domination he must attack Russia. He ordered his troops to invade Russia, to kill the russian-jews. Hitler ordered that the German army kill anyone they felt were enemies, which lead to mass murder. In the war against Germany over a hundred thousand enemies of the Nazis. The Jews were caught in the cross hairs of two nations fighting, which lead to their death. -
The United States of America joins the War
The Nazis had never expected the russians to fight back as well as they did. They thought they would rebel against eachother, but they held strong and caused the Nazis to slightly retreat. The Nazis were fighting two wars, one against the russians and another against air raid from britian. When the Jappenese bombed pear harbor, it through a new aspect into the war. Germany decied to allie with Japn causing the Us to join the force aginst Germany. These three allies were to much for Germany.
