    First Two Years

  • Development of Social skills and Appearence in progress

    Development of Social skills and Appearence in progress. Still undergoing rapid physical and social developments along with the brain's developments of fine and gross motor skills.
  • Cognitive Development-Learned to Suck a pacifier

    I accidently engaged in behaviors that allowed me to accidently learn specific effects. After repeated attempts to suck the pacifier and constantly attempting it, I learned to fully adjust to the pacifier and sucking on it became a habit.
  • Cognitive Development-Object Permanance

    As I turned 1 year old, I began to develop Object Permanance which allowed me to understand objects still exist even when they can not be seen, heard or touched. An example was when me and my mom were playing with a football and she kept hiding it under the blanket and yet I kept lifting the blanket and finding it. This story according to her.
  • Psychosocial Development-Attachment to mother

    By age 1, I was known as a "mommas boy" because of my attachment to my mother.
  • Biosocial Development- Appearence more Developed

    By age 2, the length of my body had become more proportionate accumulating half of what I would become as an adult.
  • Biosocial Development-Brain growth in progress

    By age 2, my brain had grew 2/3 of what it will become at adulthood and increased five times the density it was at birth. Also, my fine motor skills were starting to develop.
  • Cognitive Development- Learning to speak

    I had learned symbolic thought which allowed me to slowly learn the ability to produce and understand language. In my household, both arabic and english were being spoken so therefore I was able to understand directions from my mother in both languages.
  • Psychosocial Development-Love for significant others (Basic Trust)

    My love and trust grew with my family members by age 2 and I always felt safe being around my family members and loved playing with my sisters and had a inner feeling that they had love for me and they would protect me.

  • Biosocial Development-Physical Developments

    By this time, instead of being strolled around in a stroller, I was right there walking beside my mother to the park and my height and weight were continuing to increase. My body proportions were looking alot more adult like and my bones were showing where as in my first two years I looked more rounded.
  • Biosocial Developments-Gross and Fine Motor Skills Developing

    By this time, I was all over the place, learning to play basketball which till this day is one of my favorite hobbies. I was able to do this because my gross motor skills improved dramatically. I was beginning kindergarden and my fine motor skills were in full tact as my writing and drawing skills began to develop.
  • Cognitive Development-Brain Developing..Read Green Eggs & Ham

    At this point, my brain had attained 90 percent of its adult weight and I was able to begin to learn reading with the help of my mom. A child hood memory I would never forget...when I read my first book..."Green Eggs & Ham"
  • Cognitive Development-Entering First Grade

    My first Day at Oakman Elementary School. At this point, my mother had me at a perfect pace in my cognitive development. My language skills were at full throttle and I was slowly but surely developing my abilities in regards to recognizing numbers, memory and problem solving.
  • Psychosocial Development-Imagination was rolling.

    At this point, there wasn't one activity that would run through my head that I wouldnt attempt, my imagination matched that of my peers and we would create activities out of absoultely nothing and it would be as if we were at an amusement park even though we were just in my basement.
  • Psychosocial Development-Fear of rejection

    Entering my 1st day of 3rd grade, there was a whole new vibe in the air. It seemed as if every one in class were labeling eachother under whos popular and whos cool etc. There were cool kids and there were the "not so cool" and it seemed as if me and all the kids in class in 3rd grade would do anything to be labled as the "cool kids" and feared the chance of being called "not so cool"
  • Psychosocial Development-Recognition of Race differences

    9/11 was a significant date because of obvious reasons and this really made me recognize the significance of race at a young age. I was picked up from school early by my mother and when asked her why she had told me.."our country had been attacked." This made me terrified, however when I asked her by who? She replied... "well there saying by muslim terrorists." My reply was, "but mom were muslim?" and thats where I had a wake up call...
