    After the three failed attempts by Jews to murder Paul in Jerusalem, the clueless Roman commander, Lysias, sends Paul to Caesarea for a proper trial, on what will be the apostle's fourth, climatic visit to the city. 60.AD

    First Roman Imprisoned

    Paul had been arrested in the Holy Land for preaching Christianity. When taken to the Roman authorities for trial he demanded, as his Roman citizenship allowed, that his case be heard by the emperor in Rome. He was taken to Rome and, after a voyage fraught with problems, was thrown into jail there and held for a lengthy time while Emperor Nero decided what to do with him.

    Paul is released from prison in 63 A.D. and travels to the island of CreteHe then goes to Nicopolis in Macedonia. Paul fulfills his goal of visiting Spain and Britain.
