    Battle of Gonzales
    Battle of Gonzales was the first battle of the Texas Revolution. It was fought near Gonzales,Texas between Texian Settlers and Mexican troops. Authorities gave settlers a small cannon to protect them from the Comanches. Only two Mexican soldiers were killed in the attack, and no Texians killed. The importance of this event is that this was the very first battle that triggered the start of the Texas Revolution.

    The Convention of 1836 was at Washington-On-The-Brazos in Texas. The Texas Revolution had only begun five months previously, the Convention was called on March 1, and the following day adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence, written by George Childress. This was important because this was where the Texas Declaration was signed.

    Battle of the Alamo
    Mexican troops under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna had made an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Bexar. The Texans were no match against the Mexican troops, the Mexicans had a huge number of soldiers. The Battle of the Alamo was only 13 days, and at the last moment the Alamo had fallen. This event was important because when Sam Houston over heard of what happened at the Alamo, thats when he made his move.

    The Runaway Scrape was when settlers had fled their homes, after recieving reports that the Mexican army was coming and that they'd take over Texas. Under the reports of General Santa Anna, him and his army were at the Rio Grande preparing to invade Texas. This was important because all the settlers had to escape, under the order of Sam Houston to retreat because the Mexicans were coming.

    Fannin's Surrender at Coleto Creek
    James Fannin had led a group of men to retreat from Goliad. The Mexicans under General Jose de Urrea, had surrounded the Texans later that day, and the Texans defend their positions from the Mexicans. The men under Fannin were no match for General Urrea's men, so Fannin made a agreement with General Urrea for surrender. This is important because Fannin and his men were just going to retreat under the order of Sam Houston, but were caught in trouble.
  • Goilad Massacre

    Goilad Massacre
    The Goliad Massacre was the execution of James Fannin and his men, which was carried out by Jose de Urrea. The Mexicans took the Texians back to Goliad, where they were held prisoners. The Mexicans splitted into three groups, along with the Texians and in that very moment they were point-shot immediately. Those who weren't shot would be clubbed and knifed to death. This was an important event because a whole bunch of men was slaughtered in a short period of time.

    Santa Anna Burns Harrisburg
    On April 15, 1836, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna burned the entire town of Harrisburg, except for the residence of John W. Moore. According to Santa Anna, he said when him and his army got there everything was already on fire.

    The Texans army, led by Sam Houston advanced to Santa Anna's army without warning(while the Mexicans army was resting). Within 18 minutes, the Mexican army was defeated and victory was to the Texans army. Santa Anna was captured, some wanted him dead but Sam Houston disagreed. Sam Houston had made Santa Anna to sign a peace treaty that indicates the Mexican army leave the area.

    Vince's Bayou Bridge was the only way for Santa Anna and his men to retreat. Knowing that, Sam Houston orders Deaf Smith to gather trustworthy men to cross and destroy the bridge. After Santa Anna was going to retreat he find's out about the bridge being detroyed. Therefore he and his soldiers cannot retreat.

    Santa Anna Signs the Treaties of Velasco
    Santa Anna signed two peace treaties with president David G. Burnet. The public treaty consisted of ten articles of six additional articles. The secret agreement was to be carried out, the public treaty had been fulfilled.
    Article 1. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna agrees that he will not take up arms nor
    will he exercise his influence to cause them
    to be taken up against the People of Texas.
    This is important because the event ended the Texas Revolution and Texas gained its independence.
