A Russian group led an unsuccessful uprising against Nicholas I. The revolt was caused by Alexander I’s death, and Nicholas I taking over. The Decemberists refused to Swear allegiance to this new czar. It was not planned enough, so the revolt was immediately crushed by Nicholas’ military force.

After the death of Alexander III, Nicholas II took over Russia and became the Czar. That same year, he married Alexandra, and had 5 kids: Anastasia (f), Alexei (m), Tatiana (f), Olga (f), and Maria (f). He ruled over Russia until he abdicated the throne.

Fighting over Korea and Manchuria is what led to the Russo-Japanese War. Japan attacked Russia on February 8th, 1904. The Russians were not expecting it, so lives were lost. In the final battle, Russia withdrew from fighting, and Japan had the upperhand. Russia lost land in the end, and it was all given to Japan.

Protesters in a peaceful march to the czar’s palace were shot when soldiers opened fire on them. After the shooting, hundreds of people lied dead, and other were severely wounded. This sparked a revolution (Revolution of 1905), and Czar Nicholas II ended it all by creating a Duma to keep the peace.

Germany and Russia fought each other for land and power, Russia was defeated in the end of it all. Nicholas II led the army in WWI, but did not make it very far in the end. It was a devastating time both economically and socially. Millions of people died, and Russia was left with millions in debt.

Riots started when workers demanded a raise, but employers refused. Nicholas II did nothing until the riots got progressively worse, and on March 10th, people got killed. This angered rioters, and then eventually the soldiers rioted with them. This was around the time when Nicholas II gave up the throne.

Nicholas II gave up his throne due to the Petrograds forcing him out of his throne. He is later taken over by a provincial government that leads to things like Lenin taking over and the Soviet Union is formed as the USSR.

Lenin died after deteriorating health, and multiple strokes. After, people wondered who would take over the Soviet Union: Stalin or Trotsky?

The Reds and Whites fought each other for 4 years, and the Reds ended up winning in the end due to Lenin and Trotsky's power and strength.
