The Rise of Adolf Hitler

  • Hitler improves the Nazi Party

This event is important because it was the first step to Hitler becoming very influential to Germans. He was a powerful public speaker who actually insisted that the Party had its first public meeting. After the meeting, he realised that the Party needed a symbol. So, he chose the one thing he saw frequently as a child: the swastaka. He was also the one to rename the German Workers' Party to the Nazi Party.
  • The Nazi Party gets a new leader

This is an important event because this was the first time that Hitler had power and influence over a group of Germans. He was becoming very effective as a public speaker in front of crowds. He had traveled to Berlin to try and spread this influence, but then had faced with a rebellion back in Munich. Hitler had then gone back to tell of his resignation, which meant the end of the Nazi Party. The committee had then agreed to Hitler being the leader at the next meeting.
  • A beer hall in Munich goes through a putsch

This is an important event because it showed Hitler's potential as a feared political leader. In a beer hall at 8:30, Hitler invades and causes a lot of panic. He then orders everyone to be silent and to join him in the new revolution. After hearing news of his attempts to overthrow the army had failed, he had left the beer hall. Upon returning, Hitler had found that his revolution wasn't going well.
  • Two organizations are made in the Nazi Party

This is an important event because the Party was becoming more organized and powerful. After being banned from speaking publicly, Hitler had formed two new organizations for the Nazi Party. One was made for the purpose of overthrowing the German democratic republic. The other was made for creating a highly organized Nazi government, that would some day replace the republic. There was also an organized group of Nazi street fighters that kept meetings from being interrupted.
  • Hitler notices Joseph Goebbels' skills

This is an important event because Hitler had improved in his propaganda techniques. Joseph Goebbels was an anti-Semite who had talents for speech making, organizing, and propaganda. He had displayed these skills and was approved of by Hitler. Afterwards, Hitler would bring in tons of people to the Nazi Party through radio broadcasts, newspapers, photos, and postcards.
  • Nazis are elected

This is an important event because more Germans were becoming influenced. There was an election going on to see who would have seats in the Reichstag. Hitler won the election by using his public speaking skills and promising them a better Germany, and by using the "scapegoat" technique. The people would believe this because it was a hard time during the Depression and they would listen to anyone.
  • Hitler runs for president

This is an important event because, as unsuccessful as Hitler was, it showed the Nazi Party's popularity. A vote had taken place for the next ruler of Germany, and Hitler had 36% of the votes.
  • Germany's new chancellor

This is an important event because Hitler had gotten into the Republic, which he wanted to destroy. Hitler had gone into the president's office to become the chancellor. He left the office with success and was named the chancellor of Germany. Hermann Goering, a German politician, had gone into the Reichstag to assist Hitler with the democratic government.
  • Reichstag burns down

This is an important event because it had shown people that they must fear Hitler. The president was manipulated by Hitler to burn down the Reichstag.
  • Hitler is the Fuhrer

This is an important event because it was when Hitler had finally become the ruler of Germany. There was a vote that took place to see who was going to be the leader. Hitler won it using the same things he said before, such as promising a better Germany. By doing this, he also manipulates the Treaty of Versailles to his advantage.
