When she was 19 months old, Helen became very ill and lost her sight and hearing.

Anne Sullivan arrived at the Keller house to teach Helen.

Anne took Helen to the Perkins Institute for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Anne also took Helen to the Wright-Humason School for the Deaf in New York.

Anne and Helen returned to Massachusetts so that she could attend The Cambridge School for Young Ladies
