    Rockets are taking off and temporarily changing the climate of a town from snow and cold to hot and sunny
  • Ylla

    A martian, named Ylla, begins dreaming about a spaceship coming down from the sky and a tall white man comes out and she is attracted to him. This put stress on her marriage and her husband, Yll, gets butthurt.
  • The Summer Night

    Everyone of Mars started humming and singing new and foreign tunes and songs in an unknown language...English.
  • Taxpayer

    A man named Pritchard wishes to be on the third expedition to Mars so he can escape the confines of Earth and the impending atomic war
  • And the Moon Be Still As Bright

    A year after the Third Expedition. The humans get there to find all the Martians dead because of smallpox. Spender kills much of the crew and then is killed by the captain
  • The Earthmen

    When the astronauts arrive on Mars, the Martian's assume that they are just insane Martians and it leads to the captivity of the astronauts in an insane asylum where they are murdered and then the murderer commits suicide
  • The Settlers

    When the expedition started there were few people who wanted to go to Mars. As time progressed There was a growing interest in the expeditions. More and more people saw the advertisements and decided they wanted to go to Mars. Everyone had their own reasons for wanting to go to mars; whether it was dissatisfaction with their lives, their jobs, or their towns they all had a desire to get away. In the end there was a description of the rocket launch.
  • The Green Morning

    A man arriving on Mars named Benjamin Driscoll passes out due to a low Oxygen level and is nearly sent back to Earth. He refuses to return and decides that he will plant trees so that the Oxygen supply is increased. After consulting with the coordinator he is given the task of going around and planting the seeds of trees. The night after he plants the seed it begins to rain for a few hours. The next morning there are trees everwhere
  • The Locusts

    More and more people are making the trip to mars. The more people that come the more change is made on the planet of mars. The planet is being quickly molded into something the Humans are used to. If it is different or strange it is changed. 90 thousand humans moved to Mars and there are more to come.
  • The Night Meeting

    On his way to a party, Tomas stops for gas and talks with the attendant about the qualities of living on Mars. Thomas then stops two more times, once at a dead Martian town and the other at a promontory. At this point an insect-like Martian ship approaches and its rider, Muhe Ca, climbs out and explains that he is on his way to a Martian festival. The two beings introduce themselves to each other, and Muhe Ca picks up English telepathically so they can communicate more easily
  • The Shore

    “waves” of men who came to Mars. It goes into explaining that there were two waves of men who came to Mars, and all of them were from America. The rest of the world is caught up in war while America is taking over and even colonizing the new planet.

  • The Naming of Names

    Lands’ names are formed by people and the thing the people did (Hinkston Creek, Lustig Corners, Black River, etc.). Most predominant appear to be “Red Town” named from the blood spewed by the Earth mens’ murder and “Second Town” named for the second expedition. The old Martian names were of water, air, and hills (towns & graveyards took this pattern). Ultimately, all names revert back to Terra’s roots - making it no different that humans are altering Mars to semble Earth.
  • Usher II

    Stendahl has been banned from building the house on Earth by the Office of Moral Climate, a group whose governmental position is to ban and destroy anything which suggests "ghosts, vampires, fairies, or any creature of the imagination." Stendahl plans revenge by building the house on Mars. He hires an architect, Mr. Bigelow, to design the seven-room mansion filled with banned creatures. A man named Garrett arrives to condemn the house, but Stendahl has a robotic ape kill him
  • The Old Ones

    It talks about how after many expeditions have been carried out, the old people on Earth finally come to Mars. And about how they are old and have dry, wrinkly skin. Bradbury even calls them the mummy people. The chronicle briefly explains how it was planned that the young people were like the frontiersman of space and the old people always follow behind when it’s safe to arrive
  • The Martian

    A man and woman who came to Mars meet a boy who resembles and claims to be their dead son Tom. Although the old man knows that he is not really his son, he decides to believe it anyway. Tom ends up running away and disguising as a daughter to another family that had died. It is revealed that it was really a martian, neither Tom nor the daughter.
  • The Luggage Store

    The owner of the luggage store heard the news on the radio that there was going to be a war on Earth. The owner can not believe that war will soon breakout on Earth. Father Peregrine tells the shopkeeper that it is because the owner isn’t on Earth. The owner questions Peregrine on his response. The Father then tells the owner of the wars in China when he was young. The Father says that he did not believe the wars were actually happening back then because, “it’s so far away it’s unbelievable.”
  • The Off Season

    Sam Parkhill returns in this chronicle and expresses his interest in opening up a hot dog stand. Parkhill becomes pestered by a few martians and decides to shoot them and then suddenly he attempts to run away from the rest of the martians. The martians actually end up giving him ownership of half of mars. When he is told to watch Earth, he witnesses a giant explosion.
  • The Silent Towns

    Walter Gripp believes himself to possibly be the last man on Mars. He is very lonely and desperate for female companionship. He ends up meeting Miss Genevieve and when she doesnt physically match what he expected he runs away from her and decides it is better for him just to be lonely.
