Rocket Summer
It was the middle of winter in Ohio, when a Rocket ship was launched. For this brief time period it turned winter to summer with the heat from the rocket ship. -
Ylla
Ylla, a martian, has a dream of an expedition coming from Earth to Mars. She falls in love with this man in her dream. Becoming jealous her husband goes hunting and kills the men that came in the first expedition. -
The Summer Night
Since the martians have telepathy they are able to read minds. As a result of this all of the children start singing a song in their head, this song is in a language they have never heard before. -
The Earth Men
The second expedidtion arrive on mars, this time they try to talk to the martians. Each martian they speak with sends them to a different martian. Eventually they men get sent to an insane asylum because the martians think these are hallucinations. After being sent the to asylum the men are killed. -
The Taxpayer
A guy who describes himself as a taxpayer and a citizen of Ohio wants to be apart of the third expedition to Mars. He wanted to leave because there was going to be an atomic war. He was pulled away from the ship by police officers and then the ship left, leaving the man behind. -
The Third Expedition
16 men arrive on Mars as more and more join each expedition. When they leave the ship they are in a place that looks like a place in Ohio. Dead family members of each expeditioner are there. The men get pulled back to their own childhood house. That night though they were all killed. The martians had used hallucinations to trick the men. -
And The Moon Be Still As Bright
In this chronicle more men come to mars. One of the men Spender runs off and is gone for awhile. Eventually he returns and tells the other humans that we should leave the martians alone. After awhile Spender kills five of then men then heads to the hills. Wilder follows him and evenutally kills Spender. -
The Settlers
A man who has settled on mars does all he can to plant oxygen producing trees. He plants seeds one day and then he waits for something to happen. -
The Green Morning
After it had finally rained on mars the man returned to the field to find a giant green field awaiting him. To also find oxygen blowing. -
The Locusts
At this time hundreds of people are fleeing to mars, and towns are popping up like crazy. The title the locusts represent all the people and towns coming to mars. -
Night Meeting
These two guys meet and make small talk about mars. Eventually, they're each convinced that the other one is dead, but after awhile they agree to disagree and go their seperate ways. -
The Shore
The first wave of people to come to mars, built all the houses and such. While the second wave of people came from the cities across America. -
The Fire Balloons
Two priests head to mars, and find that most of the martians are gone. They find a new species made of blue spheres of fire. The priests failed to convert anyone, but still feel good about their trip. -
Interim
This chronicle talks about more people bringing tons of wood to mars in order to build more cities. -
The Musicians
The boys of mars find new ways of amusing themselves, by going hiking and playing music out of everything they find. But then eventually all their fun was gone. -
The Wilderness
In this chronicle it talks about two girls but the one only wants to go to mars to meet up with her boyfriend. They realize they'll miss a lot of things from earth especially chocolate. -
The Naming of Names
This chronicle talks about the humans changing the names of all the things on mars, and how they are taking over and becoming comfortable living on mars. -
Usher II
After all fantasy has been ban, William Stendahl invites people to his house based off of the house of usher. He tricks these people in and then evenutally kills the people as the house is then destroyed. -
The Old Ones
All this chronicle talks about is the old people are now making their way to mars. This shows that mars is becoming the new vacation spot, like Florida is now. -
The Martian
This couple see their dead son back in their yard. After chasing him for awhile they realize he is a martian and transforms to being others loved ones as well. After all the stress from the people 'Tom" eventually dies. -
The Luggage Store
There was going to be a war on mars, so this chronicle represents all the people who will be leaving mars and returning to earth. -
The Off Season
Sam Parkhill creates the only hot dog stand on mars. After exploring and killing some martians the martians give him half of mars. After preparing for all the people coming to mars he sees the earth explode and realizes the people won't be coming anymore. -
The Watchers
The people on mars watched earth and heard a morse code that signaled them to come home, so most everyone on mars bought luggage and made their way home to be with their families. -
The Silent Towns
One many, Walter Gripp, is still on mars while most everyone has evacuated. He goes through the phone book and eventually one girl answers the phone. He meets up with her and then realizes that he'd rather be alone. -
The Long Years
Hathaway lives on mars after many years of noone there. He sees a ship a signals it toward him. It is captain Wilder returning to mars. Hathaway evenutally dies, and it turns out his family he was living with were robots that he had made. -
There Will Come Soft Rains
A self operating robot house is still standing after the nuke in California. The house doesn't know noone is living there but continues through its routine. A tree falls on the house and catches fire and only a single wall is left standing. -
The Million Year Picnic
In the last chronicle a family leaves earth and heads for mars after the war. The dad destroys the rocket when they get there, and tells the boys to choose their own city. Appareantly another family is coming so the boys will be able to hopefully start a new society and keep the human race going.
