Referred to as the night of broken glass. Businesses, schools, and synagogues were getting burned down and destroyed by the Germans. The German women brought their strollers and they waited until the men broke into the businesses so that they could go in and take any good and money stored there.

While Vladek was in the trench a soldier came over to him to tell him to shoot, and a while later the Germans come over and take him to a camp.

After he has a dream of his grandfather telling him he will be released, it becomes true and he returns to his family.

Germans promised all elderly Jews that this would be a better place to be, and that they would take well care of them. They do not want Anja's grandparents to be sent away so they create bunkers where they hid them, but then they eventually come looking for them and they get captured and they are taken straight to the gas chambers to be killed.

At the stadium, all Jews were separated into 2 lines and they were told that they would stamp their passports to be protected as citizens. The people in one of the lines actually got their passports stamped while the ones in the other line were deported and sent to the gas chambers. Vladek was lucky enough that he was sent to the table where his cousin was and got his passport stamped.

The remaining Jews had to be sent to Srodula and to keep Richieu safe they sent him away. The persecution of the Jewish began, and they slammed them into wall to make them stop crying.
