In 1996 Susie began school at Lake Bolac Primary School, a 20 minute bus ride from my family farm 'Warrawoona'. She spent all her primary school years here.
-
Susie competed in the 200m sprint at the State Championships at Olympic Park, Melbourne. She came 8th in her heat.

Although it was only a short walk to the senior school, today Susie started her first day in year 7. This was not a major move for Susie as she still took the same bus route, had the same friends and knew a lot about all the senior school teachers based on my brother and sisters experiences. The main thing that she found was an adjustment was going from the oldest in primary school to now the youngest in senior school.

Boarding school was a major adjustment for Susie. Coming from a school with 14 students in her class whom she had being going to school with since Gade Prep to a school with over 180 people in her year level and not knowing anyone. Moving away from home was also a major adjustment and at the start she did feel quite homesick.
-
FREEDOM!! Her last exam marked a great feeling of achievement and freedom. This is what thirteen years of schooling came down to, and it was finally over. The world was now her oyster and she could do anything she liked with it.

Working in a five star resturant was a huge change from helping her Dad on the farm or doing assignments at school. When asked if Susie knew how to make coffee responding with 'yes, its just two teaspoons of coffee, some boiling water and a dash of milk'...goodness she had a lot to learn. Although her time at The Royal Mail Hotel Dunkeld was often rather challenging, it has given Susie the skills and knowledge to work in hospitality anywhere in the world.
-
Susie travelled around New Zealand with a friend for three weeks before moving to Port Douglas for three months working in a cafe.
-
Susie was well and truely ready to begin studying again. Another change in lifestyle, meeting lots of amazing friends on campus...and working hard as well.
-
After two years in Geelong it was time for Susie to discover life in Melbourne. After a successful transfer to the the Deakin Burwood campus Susie was excited to start the next chapter of her life.
-
Susie is currently about to complete her third year of Bachelor of Education (Primary).
After this semester Susie will work for a School Holiday Program in Melbourne.
After the fourth year of her degree Susie plans to apply for jobs in Melbourne and work in Melbourne for a couple of years before returning to the country to teach.
In between now and starting work I plan around travel to around Europe.
