You would rub wet clothes on a washboard to scrub the dirt out. This was usually a womans job. -

Before the washboard was invented you would beat rocks with stones to get the dirt out. -
Washing Machine
The steam driven laundry machine was for sale. I was now not necessary for hand washed clothes. -
Ironing Board
W. Vandenburg and J. Harvey invent the ironing board. Used to put clothes on then get the wrinkles out with an iron. -
Iron
Henry W. Seeley invented the electric iron on June 6, 1882. Before that you had to heat uo an iron on the stove. The iron was used to get wrinkles out of clothes. -
Detergent
Detergent was discovered in Germany during WW1 when there was a soap shortage. Detergent is a type of soap specifically made for clothing. -
Washing Machine
The electric washing machine was avalabile. Now it was even easier to get clothes clean. -
Dryer
The first electric dryer with a glass window was invented in the 1940s. Now you could watch as your clothes dryed.
