    The Cheyenne raided ranches after they had to live on the reservations. Army offered amnesty if they returned to reservation at Sand Creek. Though the Army troops attacked and massacred 70-500 Native American about two-thirds were women & children

    Gold miners rushed into the Black hills after Custer had led a scientific expedition and claimed he discovered gold. The Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho went on the war path to protect themselves. Custer ended up weakening his own force by splitting up into smaller groups when going to battle.

    In South Dakota. White rancher had thought that the ghost dance was a war dance that the natives were doing. So James Forsyth & the 7th Calvary were sent. They ended up killing 200 men, women, and children.
