    It was created by the Bolshevik party to help provide a steady strong leadership during the Russian revolution. This will help Russia because it will keep their government strong while they are busy with fighting.
  • Russian Civil War

    Russian Civil War
    several groups formed that opposed Lenin’s Bolsheviks. The red army was victorious, and remained communists.
  • Teaty of Brest-Litovsk

    Teaty of Brest-Litovsk
    a peace treaty signed between Russia and the USSR. The signing of this ended support to the central powers.
  • Five year plans

    Five year plans
    These were used to help industrialize Russia. More factories were used and in this period of time, farmers were killed.
  • Joe 1

    Joe 1
    This was a rocket used to try and test the mercury spacecrafts launch and recovery systems. This failed due to electrical problems and the rocket crashed into the sea.
  • WWII

    Russia decided to take part in this war because they wanted to try and get land. They first attacked Poland and they surrendered. Russia has a huge army, and this is good because they can outnumber other countries. It also shows that Russia wants to keep expanding at this point in time.
  • Hydrogen Bomb

    This was used as Russia’s greatest weapon. It is a positive because it can destroy a big land mass. A good scare to countries.
  • Laika and Sputnik 2

    Laika was the first dog to ever be in orbit in space before. He was put in a separate cabin on the shuttle sputnik 2. This is good because it shows that Russia has the determination to do things first.
  • Warsaw Pact

    this is a defense treaty developed by Russia. It is good because all other countries will leave them alone.
  • Sputnik

    This is a Russian satellite that has helped identify atmospheric traits, and also helps with radio transmissions.
  • Berlin Wall

    This physical wall became not effective after Russia’s power collapsed. This just shows that Russia has good support, and can help countries out leadership wise.
  • Attack of Czechoslovakia

    The invasion successfully stopped the way Czechs wanted to vote, and strengthened the authority of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia showing that Russia is the dominant force.
  • SALT I

    Salt means Strategic Arms Limitation Talks, which SALT I stopped the production of weapons being made. This will save Russia money.
  • SALTII

    this agreement basically had the effect that all the weapons that have been made already will be dismantled to decrease the numbers.
  • Soviet-Afghan War

    The war ended with Soviet economic recession beginning. Russia made no progress and withdrew from Afghanistan
  • Perestroika

    Introduced by Gorbachev and helped socialism work more efficiently by letting more independent actions be made.
  • Glasnost

    this is another policy introduced by Gorbachev that also helped the government practice more open and wider ranges of laws.
  • Chernobyl Disaster

    this was a nuclear accident that occurred in Ukraine because of the central authorities in Moscow. The Radiation spread over most of Europe. This is bad for Russia because most of Europe will have bad thoughts on russia.
  • Gorbachev becomes leader

    After Chernenko dies, Gorbachev takes over the Soviet Union. He represented a younger generation of leaders, and he aimed to slow communism
  • Voting Reforms by Gorbachev

    Gorbachev allowed citizens to vote for other parties other than the communist party. The soviets and communists loose in the electrions.
  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    The communist government collapsed and the power Russia once had on other countries was no longer there causing the Wall to fall.
  • Free eletections of Poland

    The elections were divided up into thirds; one third went to communists which shows that its lowering in the amount of votes.
  • Yeltsin becomes president

    He helped Russia through struggles of political and economic issues. Resigned in 2000
  • Lithuania and Lativia Protests

    these were protests to help the state of Lithuania come back up and was a result of the soviet military.
  • Gorbachev steps down

    Gorbachev stepped down because there was not much of a Soviet Union to control anymore. Russia now is done with communism.
