    The Great Famine
    The Great Famine started in spring 1315 with bad weather that caused bad harvests. The crisis didn’t stop until 1317

    The war between the House of Plantagenet with its cadet the House of Lancaster and the House of Valois started in 1337. In 1336, King Edward III of England claimed to be the crown of France’s lawful heir as he was Philip IV of France’s grandson.

    The plague arrives at Melcombe Regis

  • Period: 1348 to 1350

    The Black Death spreads across Great Britain

    In August 1348, the plague hit Bristol and one month later it reached London. In April 1349, the Black Death arrived in Wales and in July it definitely hit Ireland. In spring 1350, there was a huge outbreak of the epidemic in Scotland.
    The pestilence died out in September 1350.
