    Age of Exploration begins

    The Europeans began to explore because of God, Gold and Glory. He was looking for India when he found America. Spain, Portugal and Frence were where the most explorers came from. They were conquistador, that means they were explorers, conquers. The Spanish explorers found the New Spain.
  • Jan 1, 1517

    Pineda maps Texas coast

    Alonso Alvarez de Pineda had led several expeditions to map the western coastlines of the Gulf of Mexico. His map was the first document in Texas History.
  • Jan 1, 1528

    Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecks

    The trible of Aute captured him.They ambushed the explorers constantly which resulted in the death and wounding of many.
  • Jan 1, 1539

    Coronado sets out for Cibola

    Cibola is the seven cities made of gold. Coronado thougth that Cibola was in Texas because Cabeza de Vaca wrote somethings that make Coronado thing that Cibola was in Texas. But he didn't find Cibola. He found the region inhabited by the Zuni people and he also found the gran cannon.
  • La Salle lands in Texas

    French colonization began challeing Spain for Texas. La Salle discovered the Mississippi river.
  • Fort St. Louis founded

    Fort Saint Louis was a French colony. He was found by Robert Cavelier de La Salle. They had native american attack and several of the men died on this expedition from eating prickly pear. He was killed in Texas while trying to reach New France.
  • Marques de Rubi Inspects Texas

    They called for the abandonment of all missions and presidios in Texas except for those at San Antonio and La Bahía. San Antonio sent Rubi on his mission. Rubí recommended that Spain reorganize its frontier defenses along a cordon of fifteen presidios, each about 100 miles apart, that would stretch from the Gulf of California to the mouth of the Guadalupe River in Texas.
  • Mission San Francisco founded

    It had been charged with bringing Spanish settlers to Alta California, and evangelizing the local Natives, the Ohlone. The mission was led by Lieutenant José Joaquin Moraga and Father Francisco Palóu. Mexico was responsible for building missions. The mission was christian. The mission wasn't successful. The misssion fail because only eight Christian Indians were living at the Mission. The residences of the priests protected the mission.
  • Philip Nolan Expedition

    A filibuster is a person engaging in unauthorized warfare against a foreign country. Jean Lafitte was a French-American pirate and privateer in the Gulf of Mexico in the early 19th century. He was also a filibuster. Peter Ellis Bean and Jean Lafitte was a filibuster.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The americans got upset with Spain. England, France and Spain claimed.
  • Moses Austin Asks Permission for Colony

    Spanish grant Austin permission to establish a colony because they wanted to explore the mine. He died before he could establish his colony.
  • Stephen F. Austin Establishes His Colony

    How to get the colony into Texas with the Indains.Samuel May Williams and Green DeWitt were two oders empresarios.
  • Stephen F. Austin Establishes His Colony

    An empresario was a person who had been granted the right to settle on Mexican land in exchange for recruiting and taking responsibility for new settlers. His colony was in Texas.The people had to Catholic.They were about 300 family that originally were going to colonize.
  • Mexico gains Independence

    Mexico gain their independence from Spain. Federal Constitution of the United Mexican states of 1824.Oaxaca, Yukatan, Guadalajara and Sakatecas.
  • Fredonian Rebellion

    Anglos settlers in Texas to secede from Mexico.Edward's brother was upset with Mexico.A local merchant was arrested and sentenced to death, but later paroled.
  • Mier y Teran Report

    The Mier y Teran Report goal was to inspect Texas and investigate conditions. Because they served as state inspector. Resisting United States expantion would require additional garrisons an dincreased trate.
  • Law of April 6, 1830 passes

    They ban the U.S. immigration. Empresario contracts needed to be reacted by the Mexican government. Mexiccan immigration will be inspected by the government.They ban slaves. New forts were filled with prisons. More taxes for Americans.
  • Austin Arrested

    He arrested because he was considered a suspect in trying to incite insurrection in Texas. He changed his mind about Texas being a part of Mexico.
  • Convention of 1833

    The goal of Convention was to make a couple of documents to the Mexican government.Stephen F. Austin made the trip to Mexico City to present the resolutions.
  • San Antonio de Bexar Siege

    Siege is a battle in which enemy forces surround a town or building and stop the enemy from passing.Mexico controlled San Antonnnio before the siege. Texans controlled San Antonio after the siege.
  • Battle of Gonzales

    It was a cannon dispute.Texas won.The flag "Come and Take it".
  • Convention of 1836

    The Declaration of Independence and Texas Constitution were 2 important documents created at the convention
  • Goliad Massacre

    In the Republic of Texas Fannin and his men lose to be taken prisoner. The Mexican army ordered the massacre of Fannin’s men. 342 texans were killed.
  • The Runaway Scrape

    They were going in direction of Louisiana. The goal was to cross the Sabine River into Louisiana before they were killed. They were running away because Santa Anna and his army were going to kill him.They said that Sam Houston was a coword.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    The 2 war cries of this battle were Remember Goliad! Remember Alamo! Mexico: 630 killed 208 wounded 730 captured Republic of Texas: 9 killed or fatally wounded 30 wounded. Santa Anna tried to scape. Texas won.
  • The Alamo Falls

    David Crokett, William B. Travis, and James Bowie were the 3 notable Alamo defenders. It was 185-260 Alamo defenders and 1,800 Mexican troops.Houston could not spare the number of men necessary to mount a successful defense. Mexico won the Battle of Alamo.
